Job title: Test Engineer

We’re looking for an experienced Test Engineer to join our established development team. You’ll be ensuring quality is engineered into our various mobile and web products by working closely with developers, UI/UX designers, product owners and your fellows QAs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Agile Exploratory Testing (65%): You will be working on systems that drives Global Player and helps deliver our radio content to listeners. You’ll be working on a suite of digital products that attracts over 30 million visitors a month!

  • Automation scripting (35%): Building automated testing solutions to ensure product delivery is routine and safe.

What You’ll Love About This Role

Think Big: Creatively test products to the highest quality standards, with full trust and independence

Own It: You’ll be the sole quality driver and engineer within your squad, whilst developing your personal skills by working with excellent developer talent

Keep it Simple: We’re not about following thousands of strict test cases down to the finest detail without justification. As our product is ever evolving, we need to think about what new ways we can best maintain quality for existing features, and how we test new specifications coming up

Better Together: You’ll have a key voice in our planning and refinement meetings while also collaborating with developers on early (shift-left) testing

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Delivered key feature work for our new upcoming projects, soon to be released to millions of users

  • Partaken in app release smoke testing, assisting in the deployment of our apps to the userbase

  • Contributed to planning and backlog refinement meetings, helping the engineering and product team to craft conditions of satisfaction for this and next years’ work

  • Creation and maintenance to our automated test frameworks, which would have been fully code reviewed

  • Independently raised issues found across our products to help us continue to improve our users’ experience

  • Conducted prelim sessions with developers to write up early test cases as a form of Test Driven Development

What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • Strong Analytical skills: A detailed, systematic approach to software testing.

  • Broad Testing Experience: Experience in front-end and API testing. Experience writing and maintaining tests in frameworks such as Playwright, Cypress, Appium etc. Experience testing native iOS and Android applications is also desirable

  • Communication skills: A strong ability to describe complex software problems.

  • Command line ability: Familiarity Git and GitHub. Able to accomplish basic commands via a terminal (checking out source code, creating new branches etc.)

  • Strong automation skills: Understanding of the Page Object Model regarding writing automated tests. Knowledge and experience using CI/CD platforms such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions etc.

  • Quality Engineering: "Quality-first" mindset and can put themselves in the customers shoes to truly test quality.

  • Programming skills: Knowledge of Python, Typescript or another language
