About the role
We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Test Engineer to join our Data Platform Technology team. You’ll be working in a team with engineers and testers to play a key role in building and maintaining high-quality and scalable geospatial software components which underpins the Data Platform. You’ll also mentor other engineers in your area of expertise and become part of a testing community of over 70 test professionals that support each other with regular sessions on test related topics, tools, and techniques - be a part of it!
Key Responsibilities
Devise and implement automated tests to extend and develop our test frameworks to ensure all requirements are met and software is secure, reliable, and thoroughly tested
A keen eye for detail working with and testing a large variety of data sources
Contribute testing acumen into agile team ceremonies such as sprint planning, retrospectives, and daily stand-ups
Champion best practices, design patterns, and continuous improvement in delivery
Support the Ordnance Survey Test Guild, with common standards such as metrics and use of test tools
Devise and implement non-functional testing to meet non-functional requirements

Azure Cloud Technologies, Databricks, Azure DevOps, Python, Java, PowerShell, Apache Spark, YAML Pipelines, Esri ArcGIS, JMeter
What we’re looking for
Highly skilled in creating, maintaining and peer reviewing secure test automation code, in object-oriented language, preferably Python. Java experience welcomed too
Proven knowledge and experience in back-end software testing and engineering within agile environments
Excellent working knowledge in testing and software best practices
A confident communicator who can manage defects, identify root causes and collaborate with the engineering team to fix them
Ability to mentor and support team members, sharing knowledge and expertise with the wider OS test community
A proactive mindset with a passion for quality and continuous improvement
Knowledge of geospatial standards & principles are desirable, but not required

Salary £43,918 - £51,238

Location
We embrace a hybrid working model at OS. We have a fantastic HQ in Southampton, Hampshire where you will be based and required to spend 2 days a week.
