Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled Test Engineer to join our agile delivery team, ensuring the quality, accessibility, and reliability of modern digital services. You'll work across React front-end applications, Node.js back-end services, and AWS cloud infrastructure, contributing to the delivery of secure, scalable, and user-centred solutions.

The ideal candidate will have experience designing test strategies, developing automated UI and API tests, and working within Agile teams to deliver high-quality software across complex, cloud-native architectures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Create, document, and maintain comprehensive Test Approaches and Test Plans.
  • Estimate testing effort for user stories and features during sprint planning.
  • Apply industry-standard testing methodologies and best practices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Plan, prepare, execute, and report on functional, integration, system, regression, and user acceptance testing.
  • Develop and maintain automated UI tests using Playwright with TypeScript.
  • Build and execute automated API tests using Playwright API Testing and/or RestAssured.
  • Create and maintain WireMock stubs and mock data to enable isolated service testing.
  • Test applications built using React, Node.js, AWS services, microservices, Lambda functions, and event-driven architectures using Kafka.
  • Validate ETL processes and integrations with Robotic Process Automation (RPA) solutions where required.
  • Ensure all applications meet WCAG 2.2 AAA accessibility standards.
  • Record, manage, and retest defects using JIRA, ensuring accurate reporting throughout delivery.
  • Track testing progress and provide updates into sprint and programme reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with Business Analysts, Software Engineers, DevOps Engineers, and Product Owners as part of an Agile Scrum team.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience as a Test Engineer or QA Engineer within Agile software delivery teams.
  • Strong experience testing React front-end and Node.js back-end applications.
  • Experience testing cloud-native applications on AWS.
  • Hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript for UI automation.
  • Experience with API automation using Playwright API Testing and/or RestAssured.
  • Experience creating and maintaining WireMock stubs.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and event-driven architectures, including Apache Kafka.
  • Experience testing REST APIs, integrations, and distributed systems.
  • Knowledge of ETL testing and integration with RPA solutions.
  • Experience using JIRA for defect management and test execution tracking.
  • Solid understanding of software testing methodologies, test planning, and defect lifecycle management.
  • Experience working in Agile Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder collaboration skills.
Desirable Skills
  • Experience testing AWS Lambda functions and serverless applications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility testing tools and standards, particularly WCAG 2.2 AAA.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated test integration.
  • Experience testing microsites or UI fragment-based architectures.
  • Familiarity with performance or non-functional testing.
What We Offer
  • Opportunity to work on impactful digital transformation programmes.
  • Collaborative Agile environment with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
  • Flexible and supportive working culture.
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
