ROLE PURPOSE

Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks that ensure client software is delivered to the highest quality standards. Lead test automation strategy and contribute to SSDLC practices including SAST/DAST integration within CI/CD pipelines.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Define and implement automated test strategies aligned to client Testing Strategy and GDS delivery standards.
• Build and maintain automated test suites covering unit, integration, end-to-end, regression, and performance testing.
• Integrate automated tests into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines ensuring continuous quality gates.
• Implement and maintain SAST/DAST tooling within the SDLC pipeline in collaboration with DevOps engineers.
• Produce Test Strategy, Test Approach, and Test Summary Report artefacts per work package.
• Work with UKHO QA representatives to ensure test outputs meet authority standards.
• Ensure accessibility testing to WCAG AA standard is included within test suites.
• Manage and analyse defect lifecycles; report trends and improvement actions.
• Support manual exploratory testing where automated coverage is insufficient.
• Maintain and update test documentation as application changes occur.


ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• Strong experience building automated test frameworks for web, API, and/or desktop applications.
• Proficiency with test automation tools (e.g. Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, RestAssured, or equivalent).
• Experience integrating tests into Azure DevOps or equivalent CI/CD pipelines.
• Working knowledge of SAST/DAST tools and dependency vulnerability scanning.
• Ability to write and maintain test artefacts to a professional standard.
• Understanding of GDS service assessment quality criteria.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.


DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• ISTQB certification or equivalent.
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g. JMeter, k6).
• Familiarity with WCAG AA accessibility testing tools.
• Knowledge of geospatial or maritime software testing.


Additional Information

This role requires eligibility for SC Security Clearance. Candidates without existing clearance will be supported through the vetting process upon appointment.

Please note that attendance in Taunton, Somerset, a minimum of two days per week, is a firm requirement of this engagement.
