POSITION SUMMARY:

The Technology & Data Procurement Manager will contribute to strategic commercial engagement while also supporting practical procurement delivery and sourcing activities where required across Technology, Data and related vendor categories.  The role will support both ongoing vendor and renewal activities, and

the phased development of Procurement’s broader category management, commercial governance and enterprise vendor management capability.

This role will work closely with Procurement leadership to help improve commercial visibility, renewal coordination, vendor governance and enterprise leverage across strategically important vendor relationships. This role extends beyond traditional transactional IT Procurement activities and requires a balance of commercial capability, stakeholder engagement and practical procurement delivery experience.

The Technology & Data Procurement Manager combines commercial engagement with practical procurement delivery responsibilities across Technology and data-related vendor activities. The focus includes vendor coordination, sourcing support, renewals, commercial negotiations and contributing to the long-term development of Procurement capability across the organization.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Strategic Vendor & Commercial Management

  • Support commercial engagement across strategic Technology, Data and related vendor categories
  • Lead or support complex renewals, negotiations and commercial structuring activities
  • Support sourcing, procurement and vendor engagement activities across Technology and Data-related business and stakeholder groups
  • Improve visibility of vendor commitments, renewal timelines and pricing exposure
  • Support vendor consolidation and enterprise leverage opportunities
  • Help manage commercial risk relating to vendor concentration, contract structures and long-term pricing exposure
  • Contribute to improved commercial governance across strategically important vendor relationships

Category & Commercial Strategy

  • Support development of category approaches across Technology and Data spend areas
  • Contribute to pricing analysis, benchmarking and commercial governance activities
  • Support future-facing procurement approaches relating to SaaS, AI, data and platform vendors
  • Assist in establishing scalable vendor governance and commercial management practices
  • Help shape Procurement engagement models across strategic vendor ecosystems

Procurement capability build

  • Contribute to development of Procurement operating standards and category engagement models
  • Support creation of vendor, renewal and opportunity visibility frameworks
  • Participate in procurement technology roadmap and workflow evolution discussions
  • Help embed Procurement earlier into strategic vendor decision-making processes
  • Support broader operating model and Procurement maturity initiatives as the capability evolves

Stakeholder engagement

  • Partner with Technology, Architecture, Finance, Legal and business leadership teams
  • Provide commercially pragmatic procurement support to business stakeholders
  • Support balanced commercial decision-making without disrupting business agility
  • Help align vendor strategy with broader enterprise priorities
  • Build trusted relationships across business and technology stakeholder groups
  • Support commercially pragmatic decision-making within evolving governance structures

EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:

  • A university degree
  • A professional accounting designation (e.g. CIPS -Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) is preferred, not required.
  • Approximately 8–12 years relevant experience within Technology Procurement, Data Procurement, strategic sourcing or enterprise vendor management environments – including hands-on procurement delivery and commercial engagement activities.
  • Deep experience within insurance, reinsurance or complex regulated financial services environments strongly preferred
  • Strong commercial understanding of enterprise technology and data vendor environments
  • Experience supporting software, SaaS, platform or strategic vendor negotiations
  • Comfortable operating within evolving structures and partially mature governance environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building capability
  • Commercially pragmatic with strong analytical capability
  • Interested in helping build and mature Procurement capability over time
  • Broader commercial and stakeholder engagement experience preferred in addition to sourcing capability
  • Strong communication capability across Technology, Finance and business stakeholder groups
  • Comfortable operating within ambiguity and change
  • Self-directed and capable of establishing structure where limited precedent exists
  • Commercially pragmatic and strategically minded
  • Strong relationship builder and influencer
  • Able to balance strategic thinking with operational execution
  • Comfortable operating across competing priorities and evolving structures
  • Curious, adaptable and enterprise-oriented in approach
  • Interested in growing with the Procurement capability as it matures
