Job Description

The Director, Technical Services is responsible for the C&W Global Occupier Technical Services platform across EMEA, developing a deep understanding of client business strategies and aligning Technical Services capabilities to support those objectives. The role partners closely with the Americas Technical Services platform to build EMEA capabilities based on client and regional needs.

Role Purpose

The purpose of this role is to lead and develop the EMEA Technical Services platform, ensuring consistent, client-driven service delivery, regional capability building, technical excellence, innovation, and alignment with C&W’s global Technical Services strategy.

  • Mobilise resources across core capabilities and corporate functions to deliver superior Technical Services to internal and external clients.
  • Create a community of practice for technical resource leaders across GOS EMEA to drive consistency, training, and auditability in service delivery.
  • Support the development of the EMEA growth strategy and opportunity pipeline for Technical Services within C&W.
  • Partner with the Americas Technical Services platform to develop EMEA capabilities aligned to client and regional requirements.
  • Act as the EMEA technical leadership point for facilities engineering, asset management, service quality, innovation, and continuous improvement.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support new business opportunities with an emphasis on strategically targeted clients.
  • Align technology requirements, business intelligence reporting, and predictive and prescriptive analytics with changing marketplace needs across the IFM service line.
  • Ensure high client satisfaction by establishing and managing service delivery, executing key initiatives, and maintaining consistency in processes, reporting, and operations.
  • Update senior management on facilities engineering issues and present solutions to mitigate EMEA challenges.
  • Consult with customers on industry trends, projections, budget planning, and related technical considerations.
  • Contribute to and manage the Asset Management strategy for EMEA GOS.
  • Provide in-region engineering and asset support for IFM transitions.
  • Identify ongoing opportunities to improve delivery, service quality, innovation, and Technical Services processes.
  • Actively manage and mentor future leaders within the EMEA technical organisation.
  • Support sales and marketing efforts to secure new business, including defining service delivery strategies, structuring delivery models, developing alternative pricing, identifying team members, and leading multidisciplinary teams preparing RFP responses and presentations.
  • Work with teams to design reporting products that meet each client’s unique requirements.
  • Establish and maintain technical governance, engineering standards, compliance oversight, and risk management practices across the EMEA Technical Services platform.
  • Drive commercial performance by supporting budget planning, cost efficiency, margin improvement, and profitable growth across Technical Services activities.
  • Promote sustainability, energy efficiency, asset optimisation, and lifecycle planning initiatives that support client objectives and C&W’s wider ESG priorities.
  • Lead transformation and digital adoption initiatives across EMEA, using technology, data, automation, and analytics to improve service delivery and operational performance.
  • Implement standard processes and best practices to maximise facility engineering efficiency.

Qualifications and Personal Attributes

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Relevant professional engineering, technical, facilities management, or asset management qualification preferred.
  • Chartered status or equivalent professional accreditation preferred, where applicable.

Knowledge

  • 10+ years in Facilities Engineering or technical services management, including outsourced facility management and mobile engineering.
  • Technology expertise with asset management and CMMS platforms.
  • Experience with high-level, complex facilities and engineering operations, including asset management, maintenance best practice, and safety.

Skill and Experience

  • Strong strategic planning, execution, and business acumen.
  • Strong competency in resource allocation and implementation.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills.
  • High proficiency with MS Office Suite, including Internet-based research.
  • Strong relationship management and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organisational abilities.
  • Experience in team strategy development and leadership.
  • Experience operating across multiple EMEA markets, with the ability to navigate different regulatory environments, client expectations, cultures, and delivery models.
