What you will be doing
We have an exciting opportunity for a Technical Programme Manager to join the Aerospace Procurement Manufacturing Engineering team.
You will programme manage a large and complex significant project or a collection of complex but small projects associated with a specific significant objective. You will use a range of programme management tools and techniques in line with Manufacturing Engineering and Programme Management Function good practice.
A key focus for this role will be leading on obsolescence management, ensuring compliance with legislative (e.g. REACH, POPs) and commercial requirements. You may be responsible for leading obsolescence management in parallel to other activities as follows:
1. Lead obsolescence activities for Non-Metallic Components across aerospace businesses. You will also support resource management activities for Aerospace Procurement Manufacturing Engineering, or
2. Lead obsolescence activities for Surface Treatments across aerospace businesses and be the Obsolescence Business Lead for Aerospace Procurement.
You will also be the business expert in Surface Treatments supporting Aerospace Procurement.
You will be based in the Aerospace Procurement organisation and may be required to travel to suppliers globally to support project related activities or other arisings.
Responsibilities
Leadership model - Define a project/programme of work and deploy a work breakdown structure to deliver it. Deliver programme milestones in line with agreed plans and budgets.
Commercial Environment - Receive budget and if appropriate use and manage external agencies to conduct technical work.
PM Framework - Follow related programme frameworks (e.g. APQP, CRAB, TRL). Use change control to correct deviation. Working within an agreed risk framework, resolve and escalate issues as required. Build lessons learnt back into the programme.
Business Case - Apply technical judgement to ensure the programme meets business needs. Manage the business case including determination of business benefit (tangible and intangible) and the measurement of actual benefits.
Reporting & Stakeholder Management - Report progress. Obtain and manage sponsorship, stakeholder support and budget to deliver the agreed outcome.
Resource Management - Ensure programme is adequately resourced with skilled personnel.
Professional Development - Support the development and task leadership of team members allocated to the programme, whether directly reporting or not.

Professionally qualified Engineer or Programme manager (UK minimum degree or other national equivalent, higher degree preferred)
UK CEng (Chartered Engineer) or another national equivalent
Member of an accredited PM association (recommended)
A good understanding of manufacturing processes (business or technical) and products. For Surface Treatments, you would ideally be a specialist in this area.
Experience in delivering change in Manufacturing environments, in particular, knowledge of Capability Acquisition processes.
