Leverage your deep technical expertise and leadership to guide cutting-edge projects, fostering growth and innovation in a dynamic environment.

As a Lead Technical Program Manager in Risk Technology's Strategy team, you will drive the successful delivery of complex technology projects and programs that will help reaching business goals across the firm. Leveraging your deep knowledge of technical principles, practices, and theories is essential for developing innovative solutions, while simultaneously effectively managing resources, budgets, and high-performing teams. Your strong analytical reasoning and adaptability skills will enable you to navigate through ambiguity and change, ensuring that technology initiatives align with business goals. With advanced communication and stakeholder management abilities, you will foster productive working relationships and influence decision-making to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. As a subject matter expert, you will contribute to the development of operational plans and risk management strategies, ensuring the highest quality and professionalism in service delivery.

Few roles let you shape how more than 1,200 technologists work as AI changes software delivery. Risk Technology builds and runs the platforms the firm uses to measure, monitor, and manage risk, with teams across the globe. The Strategy team sets the direction for the group: how we organize, how we deliver, and how we invest in the capabilities that make us faster and more efficient.

This is a Vice President role based in London, in a small, focused team that works directly with the Risk Technology leadership team. You will lead through influence across the whole organization. Your first priority will be our Ways of Working program, which changes how our teams deliver now that AI is part of everyday engineering. We aim to move the majority of the organization within the first 6 to 9 months, then embed the change across the remaining teams. As the program embeds, you will take on a wider portfolio of capability building, efficiency, and operating frameworks. The role suits someone who works from data, uses AI in their own work, and can be trusted to set direction and drive decisions with senior leaders.

Job responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, incorporating technical requirements, resource allocation, and timelines to ensure on-time delivery of technology solutions.
  • Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate program planning and risk synthesis (e.g., consolidating inputs into integrated plans, Risks, Assumptions, Issues, and Dependencies (RAID), and executive-ready updates), validating outputs and handling data according to sensitivity requirements.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, proactively addressing potential roadblocks and implementing contingency plans to maintain project and program momentum.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and business stakeholders, to define program scope, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with overall business goals.
  • Utilize advanced analytical reasoning to assess program performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement data-driven optimizations to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Champion agile delivery practices and continuous improvement, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.
  • Promotes reuse-first, AI-assisted practices for program governance and reporting, ensuring human review and alignment to delivery standards.
  • Lead the Risk Technology Ways of Working program with the backing of the leadership team, scaling AI-enabled delivery practices from early adopter teams to the majority of the organization.
  • Define and own the metrics that show whether change is working, including delivery throughput, quality, adoption, and cost, and use them to shape strategy and investment recommendations to the leadership team on capability gaps, efficiency gains, and governance and operating frameworks.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on technical program management concepts and advanced applied experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to support program management workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to review and validate AI-assisted plans, risks, and recommendations before use, escalating when uncertain and following data handling expectations.
  • Advanced expertise in stakeholder management, with the ability to establish productive working relationships and influence decision-making across cross-functional teams and clients.
  • Proven track record of effectively managing resources, budgets, and high-performing teams in a fast-paced, agile environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in applying analytical reasoning and problem-solving techniques to break down business, technical, or operational objectives into manageable tasks and activities.
  • Experience leading transformation programs across a large, multi-team technology organization, including governance, operating models, and control frameworks, ideally in a regulated environment.
  • Solid understanding of software engineering and architecture principles and the modern Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), sufficient to engage credibly with engineering leaders.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in Risk Technology or the wider financial services technology sector.
  • Hands-on experience in software engineering, architecture, or engineering management.
  • Experience leading AI adoption, organization design, or engineering practice change at scale, including measuring engineering productivity.
  • Hands-on data analysis skills using tools such as Python, SQL, or Tableau.
  • Excellent written communication, including strategy papers, decision memos and presentations for senior leadership.
