Job Description

We’re looking for a Technical Product Owner to help shape the strategic direction of our Investments technology platform. Working closely with investment and technology teams, you’ll translate front-office needs into valuable product solutions, prioritise the platform roadmap and support the successful delivery of products and features across multiple investment desks.

This is an opportunity to combine your investment management knowledge, technical understanding and product expertise to influence strategic decisions, solve complex business challenges and explore how emerging technologies, including AI, can improve investment capabilities

What you’ll be doing:

  • Translating business outcomes, user needs and strategic priorities into a clear roadmap that maximises value and supports the wider Investments platform vision
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to define requirements, shape solution designs and agree the target end state
  • Prioritising the platform backlog and clearly communicating the outcomes, value and trade-offs associated with product decisions
  • Collaborating with portfolio managers, traders, research, operations and technology teams to identify opportunities and solve business problems
  • Guiding cross-functional product teams through design discussions, delivery decisions and day-to-day prioritisation
  • Defining minimum viable products and ensuring each release delivers measurable business value
  • Promoting reusable platform capabilities that reduce duplication, improve consistency and accelerate future delivery
  • Driving continuous improvement and innovation through modern product practices, emerging technologies and AI-enabled capabilities

Who we’re looking for:

  • Experience working in asset management, investment management or institutional investments, including direct exposure to front-office activities
  • A strong understanding of investment operating models and front-to-back trade lifecycle processes
  • Experience working as a Product Manager, Product Owner or Product or Business Analyst within a product-focused delivery environment
  • A track record of gathering and documenting requirements, shaping roadmaps and delivering working software that creates business value
  • Knowledge of front-office capabilities such as portfolio management, trading, research, analytics or investment operations
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders, facilitating workshops and influencing collaborative decisions
  • A technical background with experience partnering with architects, developers and cross-functional delivery teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ideally including experience of SQL, APIs, data platforms, AI-enabled products or modern analytics tools

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after all the things that are important to you. Here are some of the benefits we offer:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual, performance -related bonus plan and valuable share schemes
  • Generous pension contribution
  • Life assurance
  • Healthcare Plan (permanent employees only)
  • At least 25 days holiday, plus public holidays, 26 days after 2 years’ service. There’s also the option to buy and sell holiday
  • Competitive family leave
  • Participate in our electric car scheme, which offers employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax efficient salary sacrifice (permanent employees only)
  • There are many discounts we offer – both for our own products and at a range of high street stores and online
  • We’re creating net‑zero carbon workplaces by 2030 by investing in our sustainable, modern offices across the UK, all designed to bring people together and elevate the in‑person experience

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it's possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

Guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing. Empowered through initiatives which support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are therefore open to discussing all kinds of flexible working options including part-time and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests when we can.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
