This role offers a unique opportunity to help shape the future of enterprise data products supporting investment, stewardship, risk, compliance, and reporting outcomes across the firm.

We are seeking a Technical Product Manager who is passionate about solving complex data challenges and building products that create value across multiple business domains. In this role, you will partner closely with the ESG Data Product Family Manager, engineering teams, data architects, operations teams, and enterprise stakeholders to evolve Vanguard's ESG Data Product into a scalable, enterprise-grade data asset that supports a broad range of investment and business use cases.

This role sits at the intersection of product management, data strategy, and technology delivery. You will play a critical role in translating strategic priorities into actionable product outcomes while helping drive adoption of modern data management practices, semantic data capabilities, and enterprise data standards across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Product Roadmap Execution & Backlog Management

  • Partner with product leadership to execute the ESG Data Product roadmap in alignment with business priorities and enterprise data strategy.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing stakeholder needs, technical dependencies, regulatory requirements, and delivery capacity.
  • Develop clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and product requirements that enable efficient engineering execution.
  • Collaborate closely with delivery lead, technology lead and engineers throughout planning, development, testing, and release activities.

Data Product Development

  • Support the continued evolution of Vanguard's ESG Data Product, including semantic modelling, data relationships, data management, and cross-domain data integration.
  • Partner with data architecture and engineering teams to ensure solutions are scalable, reusable, governed, and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Provide business and technical context that enables engineering teams to successfully deliver complex data capabilities while maintaining the integrity of relationships across issuers, securities, holdings, entities, funds and benchmarks across other investment data domains.

Vendor Integration & Data Operations

  • Serve as a key technical point of contact for external ESG data providers and strategic data partners.
  • Support the onboarding and integration of new data sources into the ESG data ecosystem.
  • Partner with operations and engineering teams to monitor data quality, investigate anomalies, and drive continuous improvements in data ingestion and processing capabilities.

Stakeholder Management & Product Engagement

  • Collaborate with operations teams, data consumers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and prioritize outcomes.
  • Translate complex business needs into structured product requirements, delivery plans, and roadmap priorities.
  • Facilitate alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders while managing competing priorities and expectations.
  • Represent the ESG Data Product in product showcases, governance forums, and broader Product Management and Data communities across Vanguard.

Enterprise Data Strategy & Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the advancement of enterprise data capabilities by promoting reusable data assets, common standards, and scalable data management practices.
  • Identify risks, dependencies, and opportunities that may impact product delivery, adoption, or long-term sustainability.
  • Stay informed on developments in ESG reporting, industry standards, investment data, and data management technologies.
  • Continuously develop technical, product management, and domain expertise, while contributing thought leadership in the areas of enterprise data products and cross-domain data relationships.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4 years of experience as a Product Manager, Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or similar role within financial services.
  • Experience working with complex datasets, data products, or analytical platforms.
  • Ability to translate ambiguous business problems into structured product requirements and delivery plans.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams and navigate ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of relational databases, data pipelines, and data modelling concepts.
  • Familiarity with SQL and Python.
  • Exposure to semantic modelling, metadata management, data governance, or knowledge graph technologies.
  • Experience working within Agile product delivery environments.
  • A strong intellectual curiosity and passion for solving complex data challenges through structured and scalable solutions.

What Success Looks Like

  • Delivers measurable business outcomes through effective execution of the ESG Data Product roadmap.
  • Establishes strong partnerships across engineering, architecture, operations, and business teams.
  • Builds scalable and reusable ESG data capabilities that support multiple enterprise use cases.
  • Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and sound product judgement when balancing competing priorities.
  • Contributes to Vanguard's broader enterprise data strategy through adoption of modern data management and product management practices.

This role is ideal for candidates who are energized by complex data challenges, motivated by continuous learning, and excited by the opportunity to help shape the future of ESG data and investment data products at Vanguard.
