Job Description:

The opportunity

At Hitachi Energy, we are driving the transformation of the world’s power systems toward a more sustainable, digital, and resilient future. To support the continued growth of our Grid Automation business, we are looking for a passionate and customer‑focused Technical Presales Specialist to join our European team.

In this highly visible role, you will stand at the intersection of technology, customers, and sales, translating advanced substation and grid automation solutions into compelling value for utilities and industrial customers across Europe. Your expertise will directly influence how tomorrow’s power grids are designed, digitalized, and operated.

How you’ll make an impact

As a Technical Presales Specialist, you will play a critical role in winning and shaping customer solutions by:

  • Partnering closely with sales, customers, and engineering teams to understand customer needs, identify technical challenges, and define optimal Grid Automation and Substation Automation solutions.
  • Delivering high‑impact technical presentations, demonstrations, and workshops, clearly articulating the value, differentiation, and business benefits of Hitachi Energy’s solutions.
  • Strong expertise across power systems, grid infrastructure, SCADA, and offshore energy technologies—empowering you to drive the evolution of modern, digital power networks.
  • Designing and developing tailored technical proposals, architectures, and solution concepts aligned with customer requirements and internal standards.
  • Acting as a trusted technical authority and subject‑matter expert throughout the sales cycle, confidently addressing technical questions, mitigating concerns, and supporting deal closure.
  • Supporting proof‑of‑concepts (PoCs) and pilot projects, ensuring technical excellence and successful customer outcomes.
  • Capturing customer feedback and market insights to actively contribute to product evolution and innovation initiatives.
  • Monitoring industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor developments within grid and substation automation.
  • Contributing to the creation of sales collateral, technical documentation, division‑of‑work definitions, and training materials.
  • Building long‑term relationships with key customer stakeholders, from technical experts to decision‑makers.

Your background

To succeed in this role, you bring a strong technical foundation combined with excellent communication and customer engagement skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of experience in technical presales, solutions architecture, or field application engineering within the energy, power systems, or industrial automation domain.
  • Solid understanding of power systems, grid infrastructure, SCADA, and related energy technologies.
  • Proven ability to translate customer business needs into robust technical solutions, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience with proposal development, solution design, and technical documentation.
  • Exposure to renewable energy, substation automation systems, and offshore wind applications is a strong advantage.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and stakeholder‑management skills.
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written); additional European languages are a plus.
  • Willingness to travel within Europe (up to 20%).
  • A proactive, self‑driven mindset with strong problem‑solving capabilities and a customer‑centric approach.
