About the Team

We are a team of technical experts that assists the mobile industry in its generational (5G) and digital transformation. This involves understanding the industry drivers, collaborating with; operators, vendors and other actors to provide technical recommendations for wider industry adoption. Our goal is to increase interoperability to accelerate scale adoption of technology principles and practices, thus providing a sustainable economic roadmap for mobile technology.

Our current challenges include rollout and monetization of 5G, virtualization of network functions and the impacts of digital transitions to IT&T infrastructure and software models.

About the role

  • You will support the Technology leadership team (CTO and Senior Directors) to provide the technical expertise and resource across the GSMA for supporting 5G Private Network. This would include supporting; strategic planning, industry project, technical working groups and other GSMA departments e.g. Membership or GSMA Ltd.

  • You will need to engage with industry stakeholders’ e.g. Standards Development Organisations, Operators, Vendors and OEMs, Industries interested in deploying 5G Private Networks, to prepare technical consensus and to influence industry stakeholders for interoperability and scale adoption. 

  • You will need to demonstrate clear understanding of mobile telecoms end-to-end systems and the impacts of digital transitions to IT&T infrastructure and software models. Being comfortable to communicate at a range of levels of detail, to make understanding of complex ideas accessible to both internal and external audiences with a wide-ranging level of technical background. 

  • You will be required to attend GSMA Events, Seminars and Governance meetings to provide technical overviews and descriptions of general industry topics and specific GSMA projects.  You will also be required to represent GSMA and consensus positions at other industry forums or meetings.

  • You will need to provide thought leadership for existing and future mobile technology, the impact on networks, in the knowledge of the future industry trends and their likely impacts on mobile network evolution and development.  You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to understand the commercial implications of technical decisions and vice versa.

About You

  • Solid experience in a technical role within the Telecoms, IT&T or Industries sector.

  • Knowledge of mobile systems from 2G to 5G Advanced, experience in management of the deployment of mobile systems as per the 3GPP Standards.

  • A deep understanding of the technology transformational drivers within the industry.

  • A passion for innovation, with insights from the Enterprise customer requirements, to be able to specify the functions required from mobile technology.

  • Knowledge of a range of existing and future like Network Slicing, MEC, etc.

  • Knowledge of commonly used internet standards and protocols, open-source standards, their relevance to mobile network operators and for Private Networks.

  • A proven track record of interacting with internal and external stakeholders, including C-level executives.

  • Able to lead projects from inception to completion, often involving a broad mix of individuals and companies with diverse skill sets.

  • Have experience of working in an international environment, working with geographically dispersed teams.

  • Smart, collaborative, relationship and outcome focused

  • Ability to demonstrate sound judgement in the escalation of issues and the formulation of solutions

  • Attention to detail and understanding of need for high quality documentation.

  • Evidence of a high quality of delivery in a complex and challenging environment.

  • Prior knowledge of 5G Standalone and Private Networks.

  • Understanding of the role of other industry forums including 3GPP, IETF, ITU, TM Forum, Linux Foundation, Open-Source Organisations.

  • Understanding of the ITC industry forums and standards.
