You’ll work closely with Product Managers and technical SMEs to ensure our technology meets business needs and aligns with strategic direction.

You’ll bring strong engineering expertise, experience delivering healthcare technology, and the ability to lead a multidisciplinary team. From shaping technical direction to guiding development and improving system capabilities, you’ll play a key role in driving innovation across our clinical and digital platforms.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • Develop high quality applications

  • Working closely with other digital tech teams to ensure design and user experience is consistent and meet requirements.

  • Development of new or existing applications and solutions in line with application designs, development standards, methodologies and strategic architecture frameworks.

  • Working as a lead alongside technical SMEs within product teams and projects of varying scope and size.

  • Can spot problems prior to development or serve up solutions to combat issues as they arise throughout the lifespan of a project.

  • Evaluate existing products and solutions to propose practical improvements, taking ownership and working with colleagues and business owners to implement changes.

  • Drive improvements to development practices and technical documentation.

  • Manage implementation activities, change control and release planning.

  • Take ownership of improvements for internal documentation of products and technical solutions.

  • Become the point of contact for technical and domain specific support for other teams within your technical domain.

  • Establish and maintain credibility and working relationships with other teams within Bupa, being an ambassador for Bupa IT within the business community, supporting a customer service culture.

  • Ensure solutions are taken through appropriate internal governance processes such as Technical Design Authorities and other forums.

  • Support the procurement of new technologies and solutions aligned to business / technology requirements including vendor assessments / selection, RFIs and RFPs

  • Responsible for understanding and maintaining data models and inter-system relationships, dependencies, and integrations.

  • Creating compliant and robust solution architectures aligned with business requirements / goals / strategy, technology strategy, regulatory / legal requirements and Bupa policy.

  • Consider the options to solve business challenges through many lenses, Engineering, Business, Security, Data and Operations.

  • Recommend solutions based on time to value, overall costs and risks and strategic fit.

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with our partner organisations, helping to align our technical efforts with external needs.

  • Clearly and crisply communicate and contribute to architectural decisions, plans, and standards for the products we create and support.

  • Engage with design governance early and often so that solution designs meet peer review and meet control obligations with the minimum of fuss.

  • Align with defined architecture patterns, standards and target architectures.

Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • A strong engineering foundation with proven experience building high‑performance, scalable applications.

  • Cloud‑native experience, ideally with Google Cloud Platform, or equivalent AWS/Azure expertise.

  • A strong communicator who can translate complex technical concepts for both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

  • Experience working in Agile, product‑led environments with strong coding standards and source control practices.
