Working Arrangements: Hybrid (3 days in the office)
- Assist with gathering and preparing data required for global corporate tax returns and other direct tax filings (such as withholding tax returns), liaising with the finance team.
- Maintain the global compliance calendar to ensure all filing, payment and other regulatory obligations are met on time.
- Assist with the preparation of the UK R&D tax credit claim, including extracting and analysing data from finance systems.
- Support the roll forward, preparation and standardisation of interim and year-end tax reporting calculations.
- Assist with Transfer Pricing compliance, such as documentation and quarterly calculation reviews.
- Assist with the preparation of periodic indirect tax returns, both UK and international.
- Produce, analyse and validate data to support the monthly US sales tax returns and other indirect tax compliance, including the EU EC Sales List, One Stop Shop and Intrastat filings.
- Verify and maintain customer sales tax exemption certificates.
- Prepare tax-related forms and apply for HMRC Certificates of Residence and Certificates of Compliance.
- Assist with tax authority correspondence, including drafting responses, preparing supporting information and liaising with tax authorities where required.
- Ensure timely processing of tax payments and refunds, liaising with the Treasury and Finance teams.
- Prepare draft tax journals and tax-related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Perform quarterly reviews of US state tax portals, ensuring consistency with tax-related balance sheet reconciliations.
- Raise and monitor purchase requisitions and purchase orders.
- Maintain tax fee trackers, monitoring invoices against agreed budgets and approved purchase orders to ensure accurate cost control and timely processing.
- Monitor the tax team’s shared email inbox and physical post, responding to or redirecting correspondence as appropriate.
- Maintain organised and up-to-date tax records.
- Contribute ideas to reduce manual work and improve tax processes and efficiency, including the use of technology.
- Assist with ad-hoc tax, treasury and finance projects as required.
- GCSE (or equivalent) Maths and English.
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or a related discipline.
- Part-qualified, or actively studying towards a professional qualification (ATT/ACA/CTA or equivalent).
- Proven interest or experience in tax, either in practice, in-house or at HMRC.
- 1-2 years’ experience working within a finance team.
- 2-3 years’ experience in a tax role, either in practice, in-house or at HMRC.
- Direct tax compliance experience.
- Indirect tax experience.
- Experience working with listed or multinational businesses.
- Experience preparing UK R&D tax credit claims.
- Experience of Transfer Pricing documentation or compliance.
- Exposure to tax accounting and reporting.
- Experience using tax compliance or ERP systems (e.g. OneSource, D365).
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
