Role Summary and Impact

As a key member of the Choreograph UK Data Strategy leadership team, the SVP, Data Strategy is responsible for driving transformative growth for a dedicated portfolio of WPP’s largest clients. You will govern the data strategy practice across our EssenceMediacom and OpenMind agency groups, leading a team of VPs and Directors to deliver exceptional client outcomes and commercial success for clients such as Nestlé, Tesco, Boots, and ITV.

In addition to your portfolio leadership, you will serve as the UK practice lead for Commercial & Growth, within Data Strategy. In this capacity, you will work closely with out commercial and growth teams to support our go-to-market strategy for our data products and services, lead data strategy on major new business opportunities, and support the entire UK Data Strategy practice with the commercial frameworks needed to drive revenue. This is a dual-mandate role requiring a leader who can excel at both senior client counsel and strategic commercial development.

  • Portfolio Governance: Own the strategic data relationship and growth plans across the EssenceMediacom and OpenMind client portfolio. Ensure every client has a clear data maturity roadmap, driving innovation and measurable business growth. Act as the senior executive sponsor for key clients.
  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a team of four direct reports (VPs, Directors, and Managers) and an overall team of 10, fostering a culture of excellence and curiosity. You will be responsible for orchestrating their efforts to deliver outstanding work and developing them into future leaders.
  • Horizontal Leadership (Commercial & Growth): Own the commercial engine for the UK Data Strategy practice. You will be accountable for data strategy's role in winning new business, developing our pricing and packaging, and creating commercial proposals for our most complex data solutions. You will be the central point of expertise for all commercial and growth initiatives.
  • Executive Stakeholder Management: Cultivate and manage relationships with senior marketing and data leads at key clients, as well as C-suite stakeholders within our agencies. You will be the face of Choreograph data strategy at the most senior levels of your portfolio.
  • Strategic Contribution: As a direct report to the EVP, Data Strategy, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the overall vision, operational effectiveness, and culture of the entire Choreograph UK department.

What You’ll Need

  • Extensive experience leading data strategy or analytics functions at a senior level, with a proven track record of managing large, complex client portfolios.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and winning new business pitches, coupled with strong commercial acumen in pricing, scoping, and negotiating data-driven workstreams.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop other senior leaders (VP/Director level).
  • Exceptional executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to act as a trusted advisor to C-suite level clients and agency partners.
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate complex data and technology capabilities into clear, commercially viable client solutions.
