Sustainability Manager

Position Overview

The Sustainability Manager oversees the development and delivery of sustainable operations strategies across investment property portfolios and real estate assets. This role combines ESG program planning, operational sustainability implementation, investor stakeholder engagement, and data-driven asset performance management to enhance investment returns while achieving measurable environmental outcomes. The manager provides strategic leadership on portfolio-wide sustainability programs, integrating industry best practices in sustainable property management and fostering continuous operational improvements that drive both financial performance and environmental value for investors.

Core Responsibilities

 

Sustainability Programme Leadership & Client Engagement

  • Serve as the main point of contact for sustainability programmes, offering expert advice and strategic solutions tailored to client needs.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholder teams, and supply chain partners to maximize engagement and programme impact.

  • Collaborate with JLL service lines (Projects, Facilities Management, Procurement) to deliver integrated sustainability strategies.

  • Champion the integration of sustainability throughout the real estate lifecycle, leveraging JLL tools, cross-functional expertise, and new technologies.

 

Programme Design, Implementation & Compliance

  • Develop and lead the execution of comprehensive sustainability programme roadmaps, ensuring alignment with client objectives, JLL vision, and industry best practices.

  • Integrate sustainability into all aspects of operations, asset management, and supply chain management.

  • Ensure all initiatives comply with internal and client-specific standards, including audit readiness.

  • Collect and incorporate stakeholder feedback for continuous programme enhancement.

Data Analysis & Quality Assurance

  • Perform analysis of sustainability data (energy, water, waste, emissions, etc.) to evaluate performance, identify anomalies and trends, and spot operational outliers.

  • Lead root cause investigations for significant variances, and provide concise narratives on business implications.

  • Develop estimation models for incomplete data and champion best data governance practices.

  • Support automation and digitization of data flows to improve reporting efficiency and reduce cycle times.

 

 Continuous Improvement & Innovation

  • Foster a culture of innovation by proactively identifying and implementing new solutions and continuous improvements to enhance programme impact.

  • Promote the piloting and scaling of new technologies and business models.

  • Regularly assess programme effectiveness and adapt strategies to market and stakeholder needs.

 

Team Leadership

  • Lead cross-functional programme delivery teams, ensuring appropriate resource allocation and clear accountability.

  • Support team onboarding, knowledge transfer, and professional development.

Qualifications

  • Substantial experience in sustainability programme management, ESG strategy, and data analytics.

  • Proven relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Advanced proficiency in data analysis (Excel, analytics platforms) and strong presentation and written communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Engineering, Business, or related discipline.

  • Experience in real estate and collaborative project delivery is highly desirable.
