About the role 

DS Smith are looking for an experienced Supply Chain Manager to join our UK Packaging division in Devizes to coordinate Sales and Operational planning (S&OP) activity on site and capacity alignment in our Sales and Operational Execution (S&OE).

As Supply Chain Manager you will report to the Cluster Head of Supply Chain but will work closely with the Site GM and be part of the Site Management team to ensure customer and production needs are met by coordinating site activity with sales and production planning. You will support and develop direct reports to ensure the Supply Chain team provide the required level of service to the rest of the site.

This role will cover areas from providing paper forecasts, planning efficiency, customer OTIF and crucially provide key S&OP data to the wider cluster.

This role is site based and you will have direct responsibility for Customer Services, Transport Planning and Production Planning, as well as coordinating with the other members of the management team. 

We are looking for a leader who can work in a cross-functional environment combined with the drive and motivation to develop and inspire the Supply Chain function to continually exceed our customers’ expectations.

About you  

You will have a good working knowledge of S&OP/S&OE and a passion for continuous improvement, continually looking to set and drive efficiency targets within Customer Services & Planning.  Ideally you will understand how to optimise costs and develop effective supplier relations, and you’ll be able to collaborate with sales teams to understand demand analysis and conduct in-depth forecasting.

Other attributes include:

  • The presence and influence to lead and challenge critical decisions across the business

  • A strong career background in a manufacturing environment- preferably an FMCG environment

  • External outlook - ability to interpret and work with the wider strategic agenda within the Cluster

  • Competence in Supply Chain management, production planning, inventory management, Logistics and Continuous Improvement in an FMCG or similar production environment

  • Ability to interpret KPI trends, initiate and support any necessary analysis to determine improvement opportunities and drive performance

  • Strong commercial and financial acumen

  • Strong IT skills, particularly Excel
