Gas Supervisor
Location: Peterborough
Full Time Permanent
Salary up to £48,531.60 per annum, plus company van & fuel card
42.5 hours per week (8–5 Monday–Friday)

About the role:

We’re looking for an experienced Gas Supervisor to join us following a new social housing contract win in Peterborough. This is a hands‑on role, split between the office and site, where you’ll be responsible for overseeing gas servicing, breakdowns, and repairs in occupied homes, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality at all times.

It’s a great opportunity to be involved from the early stages of a new contract, helping to establish the gas service locally with a strong flow of ongoing work. You’ll have a real influence on how the service is delivered, making sure homes are kept safe, compliant, and legally certified, and that residents receive a professional and reliable service day to day.

Duties:

  • Supervise the day‑to‑day delivery of gas servicing, repairs, and breakdowns across occupied homes
  • Ensure all gas works are completed safely, on time, and to agreed quality and compliance standards
  • Carry out regular site visits to monitor works, resolve technical issues, and maintain resident satisfaction
  • Inspect gas installations, equipment, and completed works to ensure compliance with Gas Safety regulations
  • Allocate gas engineers, subcontractors, and resources effectively to meet KPIs and contractual targets
  • Plan and manage workloads to minimise disruption to residents
  • Ensure full compliance with Gas Safety (Installation & Use) Regulations, Health &
  • Safety legislation, and company procedures
  • Complete post‑inspection quality checks and ensure remedial actions are closed out
  • Oversee annual gas safety checks (CP12s) and ensure certification is completed accurately and on time
  • Lead, support, and performance manage gas operatives, providing day‑to‑day supervision and coaching
  • Identify skills gaps and support training, qualifications, and reassessments within the gas team
  • Apply HR policies relating to attendance, conduct, and performance management
  • Manage gas assets including vans, tools, PPE, analysers, and van stock
  • Monitor materials usage and order supplies to support cost‑effective service delivery
  • Use gas and repairs systems to track performance, productivity, compliance, and job completion
  • Act as a point of contact for residents, resolving gas‑related issues professionally and promptly
  • Liaise with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate gas service delivery
  • Support contract mobilisation, audits, and continuous improvement within gas services
  • Assist with cost control, forecasting, and identifying efficiencies within gas operations
  • Provide supervisory cover during absences or peak demand
  • Attend toolbox talks, gas safety briefings, training, and company meetings
  • Ensure all gas activities reflect company values and a professional service at all times

Key Criteria:

  • Experience in a Gas Supervisor, Gas Engineer, or similar supervisory role within social housing
  • Strong experience managing gas safety, compliance, and statutory requirements
    ACS Gas qualifications (including CCN1 and relevant appliances)
  • Gas Safe Registered (or able to be registered)
  • Relevant City & Guilds (or equivalent) gas qualification
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Ability to lead, supervise, and develop gas engineering teams
  • Confident communicator with a practical, customer‑focused approach
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a hands‑on, results‑driven mindset
  • Effective planning and organisation in a fast‑paced gas servicing environment
  • Able to make clear decisions under pressure
  • Confident working with internal teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders
  • IT literate with clear written and verbal communication skills

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21, have held your licence for over 3 months, and have less than 9 points.
