About the Role:

The strategy team are the champions of developing full-funnel communication strategies within the agency. We are the architects of OMD Design, our end-to-end process, and responsible for its use across the agency. As a result, we are the bridge for most workstreams at OMD, from audience and behavioural insights to communications frameworks, opportunities for innovation, best in class channel execution and cutting-edge measurement. We work closely with specialists in our ‘connected experience’ capability team as well as the broader agency teams to deliver this. You’ll find support in a department filled with brilliant thinkers, overseen by a leadership team who believe in the value of strategy and its importance within the agency.

This role is for the Strategy Director sits within the recently won Beiersdorf account and you’ll be reporting into one of the Strategy Executive Directors on this account. Beiersdorf (owning Nivea, Eucerin and Hansaplast (Elastoplast in the UK)) is a huge win for OMD EMEA and you’ll be sitting in a team of four strategists on the account with plenty of opportunity for development.

OMD EMEA acquired the global and EUNA (Europe and North America region) Beiersdorf account in January 2024 and have been focused initially on installing brilliant strategic basics and consistency across the region. You would be joining at a very exciting time, where we will be starting to build on these strong foundations, testing new media strategies, measurement methodologies and innovations. You therefore must have an excellent grasp of FMCG marketing theory (Ritson, Sharp, Binet & Field) as well as an innate interest in the skincare landscape & cultural territory.

The role offers the opportunity to work across both Nivea and Derma Health Care (Eucerin & Hanso/Elastoplast) and the successful candidate will be expected to lead on your own strategic workstreams, so the ability to lead strategic conversations, develop best in class strategic responses and challenge your clients with confidence.

Your role, as part of the EUNA team, is focused on bringing together global media & creative strategy, regional business & marketing objectives and a wealth of consumer insights and data to address key marketing challenges and drive brand growth. This will involve working closely with the central planning & activation teams, key Beiersdorf stakeholders and local market teams to deliver strategies that create growth this exciting premium brand while managing your brands place in the complex Beiersdorf portfolio. We are therefore looking for a strong collaborator who is comfortable working with multiple teams and who is always looking for the opportunity to grow their client’s business.

About you

  • Communications experience with media expertise and practice in a strategically focused role
  • Can translate client briefs into clear strategic recommendations, identifying new or diverse opportunities and approaches where required
  • Can create and articulate strategy recommendations for senior marketers who may not have a media or comms background (educating the value of comms planning through the work output)
  • Can work with the team to translate strategy into actionable media recommendations / guidelines that consider context, culture, consumer, content, etc
  • Is adept at partnering with agency partners and cross agency teams to integrated comms planning across multiple stakeholders so that strategy guides specific functions plans such as PR, Influencer, Brand Partnerships, Social Content, etc
  • Can develop strategies and measurement frameworks considering Paid, owned, and earned media channels, with clear KPIs for Outputs, Outtakes and Outcomes, and apply insight into future recommendations
  • Naturally seeks out and applies evidence when developing recommendations, working both individually and collaboratively with research and insights teams to do so
  • Embraces an inclusive approach in developing recommendations and receiving feedback from clients
  • Will actively embrace the OMD behaviours; hearing every voice, being curious by nature, pushing us all to be better, knowing that progress is more important than perfection, and treating everyone with care and respect

Flexible Working

We have a hybrid working model (three days in the office, two working remotely), to ensure that we meet the needs of both our people and our business, balancing the benefits of in-person connections with the flexibility of remote working.  Our standard working hours are 9:30 – 17:30, but we offer the ability to flex around core hours of 10:30 – 16:30 to give our people flexibility on how they manage their working day, whether that’s in the office or working remotely. For example, you could start work at 8:30 and finish at 16:30 or start at 10:30 and finish at 18:30.
