Strategy Director / Partner

Scientific & Brand Strategy Lead

Location: 16 Old Bailey, London, EC4M 7EG

About DDB Remedy:

We strive to be the most innovative and inspiring creative healthcare agency in the world, making things happen.

Through deep partnerships, smart strategy and applied creativity, we create exceptional experiences and communications. We make meaningful change in healthcare happen.

And if you’ve got potential to unlock, talent to unleash, and a desire to wow clients, we want to make it happen.

The opportunity:

As a Strategy Director / Partner (Science & Brand), you operate at the intersection of scientific depth and brand strategy. You are a senior strategic architect across brands, portfolios and disease areas, translating complex clinical data and competitive landscapes into clear, commercially credible direction.

You shape positioning, narratives and long-term strategic roadmaps grounded in mechanism, evidence and market dynamics. You ensure that brand strategy is not layered on top of science, but built from it.

You work upstream, influencing brand futures, portfolio thinking and competitive preparedness, while ensuring downstream execution remains strategically coherent.

You are both a rigorous thinker and a trusted partner to senior clients, particularly across medical, commercial and global leadership teams.

About you:

You are scientifically fluent and strategically sharp.

You are comfortable interrogating clinical data, trial design, mechanism of action and pathophysiology, and converting that understanding into compelling brand positioning and clear commercial arguments. Doing it quickly and accurately.

You do not separate science from strategy. You integrate them.

You are confident leading complex conversations with senior stakeholders, bringing clarity to ambiguity and structure to competing priorities. You are as comfortable in a data-heavy workshop as you are shaping a positioning territory or guiding a creative narrative.

You combine intellectual rigour with practical decision-making. You simplify complexity without diluting substance.

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong scientific foundation, ideally within complex therapy areas
  • Deep experience in brand positioning, value proposition development and narrative construction grounded in clinical differentiation
  • Ability to interpret trial data, competitive evidence and evolving treatment paradigms and translate them into strategic direction
  • Experience shaping upstream strategy, including launch planning, lifecycle management and scenario planning
  • Track record of designing and facilitating workshops to align medical, commercial and cross-functional stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of competitive dynamics and ability to build proactive defence strategies
  • Comfort operating across global and local contexts, balancing ambition with practical execution
  • Credibility with senior client stakeholders as a thought partner, not just a delivery lead

What we’ll need you to do:

Strategic Architecture

  • Lead brand strategy development grounded in clinical reality and competitive context
  • Translate mechanism, data and evidence into differentiated brand strategy
  • Shape long-term brand and portfolio direction, including future scenario modelling
  • Build clear value propositions that resonate with HCP logic and commercial priorities
  • Stress-test strategy against trial outcomes, competitive moves and market evolution

Scientific - Commercial Integration

  • Interrogate and interpret clinical data to uncover strategic implications
  • Connect pathophysiology and mechanism to messaging and communication frameworks
  • Align medical credibility with brand ambition
  • Ensure scientific integrity underpins all strategic outputs

Portfolio and Ecosystem Thinking

  • Contribute to disease area and portfolio-level strategy where relevant
  • Think beyond campaign to full ecosystem coherence
  • Ensure strategic alignment across touchpoints and stakeholder groups

Facilitation and Alignment

  • Design and lead workshops that drive clarity, alignment and decision-making
  • Navigate competing agendas across medical, commercial and market access
  • Provide structured frameworks to enable confident strategic choices

Strategic Leadership and Department Impact

  • Raise the bar for scientific and strategic rigour across the department
  • Mentor and develop strategists in integrating science and brand thinking
  • Contribute to evolving strategic frameworks and agency offerings
  • Support pitch development with differentiated, insight-driven strategy

Knowledge and Skills

  • Advanced understanding of clinical development, treatment pathways and competitive landscapes
  • Expertise in positioning, messaging architecture and engagement strategy
  • Ability to simplify complex scientific and commercial information without losing nuance
  • Skilled in using research and analytics to inform strategy (AI)
  • Strong commercial instinct and awareness of business drivers
