Strategic & Business Risk Specialist

Adyen is looking for a Strategic & Business Risk Specialist to join our Amsterdam-based second-line Strategic Risk team, part of the global Enterprise Risk function. You have a solid grasp of non-financial and strategic risk, its core risk types, and its value within a business. You are looking for an opportunity to learn quickly, take on increasing responsibility, and develop a strong foundational framework for assessing risk. You will gain experience in Adyen’s global risk management organization and will look to use that experience with senior stakeholders across Adyen’s wider organization, including the leadership team. Adyen’s flat structure means you will be closely involved in supporting, learning from, and maintaining a wide range of risk management activities.

You are eager to accelerate your expertise within a dynamic, fast-paced technology environment including supporting and improving the foundation of our framework, spanning a global and strategic risk landscape.

What you’ll do:

  • Contribute to and enhance the management of strategic risk such as execution risk, competition risk, macroeconomic and geopolitical developments.
  • Develop and maintain a view on new strategic topics to help Adyen direct its strategy-setting process.
  • Contribute to and enhance the methodology of risk assessments at a global and regional level, or at specific strategic risk topics within Adyen.
  • Support the enhancement and rollout of our global risk framework while expanding your specialized knowledge across our risk pillars.
  • Contribute to core risk management activities, such as tracking activities against risk appetite, assisting with scenario analysis, and extending the risk management framework into new areas.
  • Collaborate with first-line stakeholders to help integrate risk considerations into new projects, and support the improvement of processes and policies.
  • Assist in preparing reports for the Management Board and Risk Committees to provide an accurate view of Adyen’s risk landscape.

Who you are:

  • 3+ years of relevant professional experience in Risk Management at a large financial institution, large tech company or other (global) corporation, in a second-line capacity (internal or consulting).
  • Hold a foundational understanding of one or more of the core components of strategic risk; e.g., commercial, macroeconomic, competition, reputational, or product risk.
  • Have experience delivering on projects and ensuring tasks and projects stay on track to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Possess a proactive, outcome-driven approach and are a lifelong learner.
  • Have a hands-on mentality and are ready to engage with challenges as part of a collaborative team.
  • Leverage strong communication skills to build relationships and support the adoption of best practices across different teams.

Our business and technical challenges are unique, and we need as many different voices as possible to join us in solving them - voices like yours.
