Design at Preply

At Preply, we’re building a human-led, AI-enabled learning experience that helps people make real progress. Design is central to that: turning deep user understanding into bold, beautiful, and seamless experiences that feel intuitive, motivating, and human.
As a Staff Product Designer, you’ll take on some of our most complex and ambitious product challenges. You’ll work closely with Product and Engineering to shape and evolve product vision and strategy, challenge the direction when there’s a better path, and turn that thinking into exceptional experiences that ship.
This is a highly independent, hands-on IC role. Depending on the challenge, you may go deep within a product area or work across high-priority initiatives. Beyond your immediate work, you’ll coach other designers, influence best practices, and help evolve the standards and ways of working that make Design at Preply stronger.

What you’ll be doing
  • Shape what we build and why. Co-create product vision and strategy with Product and Engineering, bringing a strong design perspective to priorities, opportunities, and where we should go next.

  • Own complex work end-to-end. Take on high-impact and greenfield challenges with a high degree of independence, from shaping the vision and direction through to the experience that ships.

  • Create bold, differentiating experiences. Bring exceptional interaction and visual craft, thoughtful judgment, and a clear point of view - exploring alternatives, noticing the details others miss, and pushing beyond the obvious to create experiences that feel distinctly Preply.

  • Multiply your impact. Coach and mentor designers, influence teams beyond your immediate area, and help evolve the practices and standards that raise the quality of Design at Preply.

What you need to succeed
  • Staff, Lead, or equivalent experience in a mature product design organisation, working on consumer-facing, mobile-first products at scale.

  • A track record of shaping product vision and strategy, not just executing against it, in close partnership with Product and Engineering.

  • Exceptional interaction and visual craft, with strong product judgment, a clear point of view, and an experimental mindset.

  • Impact beyond your own work - coaching other designers, raising the craft bar, and influencing how teams work.

  • An intentional approach to AI in your design practice - knowing where it adds value, where it introduces noise, and how to judge the quality of the output.

Why you’ll love it at Preply
  • An open, collaborative, dynamic and diverse culture;

  • A generous monthly allowance for lessons on Preply.com, Learning & Development budget and time off for your self-development;

  • A competitive financial package with equity, leave allowance and health insurance;

  • Access to free mental and physical health support platforms;

  • The opportunity to shape the lives of learners and tutors through language learning and teaching in 175 countries (and counting!).

…and more, depending on your location.

Our Principles
  • Care to change the world - We are passionate about our work and care deeply about its impact to be life changing.

  • We do it for learners - For both Preply and tutors, learners are why we do what we do. Every day we focus on empowering tutors to deliver an exceptional learning experience.

  • Keep perfecting - To create an outstanding customer experience, we focus on simplicity, smoothness, and enjoyment, continually perfecting it as every detail matters.

  • Now is the time - In a fast-paced world, it matters how quickly we act. Now is the time to make great things happen.

  • Disciplined execution - What makes us disciplined is the excellence in our execution. We set clear goals, focus on what matters, and utilize our resources efficiently.

  • Dive deep - We leverage business acumen and curiosity to investigate disparities between numbers and stories, unlocking meaningful insights to guide our decisions.

  • Growth mindset - We proactively seek growth opportunities and believe today's best performance becomes tomorrow's starting point. We humbly embrace feedback and learn from setbacks.

  • Raise the bar - We raise our performance standards continuously, alongside each new hire and promotion. We build diverse and high-performing teams that can make a real difference.

  • Challenge, disagree and commit - We value open and candid communication, even when we don’t fully agree. We speak our minds, challenge when necessary, and fully commit to decisions once made.

  • One Preply - We prioritize collaboration, inclusion, and the success of our team over personal ambitions. Together, we support and celebrate each other's progress.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
