Lloyd’s is the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace. We share the collective intelligence and risk sharing expertise of the market’s brightest minds, working together for a braver world.

Our role is to inspire courage, so tomorrow’s progress isn’t limited by today’s risks.

Our shared values: we are brave; we are stronger together; we do the right thing; guide what we do and how we act. If you share our values and our passion to build a future that’s more sustainable, resilient and inclusive, you’ll find a home at Lloyd’s – build a braver future with us.

At Lloyd’s, we don’t just support the insurance market. We help shape it.
And right now, we’re looking for a Solicitor to join our Corporate Legal team and play a visible part in that work.
This is your opportunity to work at the heart of a globally respected institution. To advise with clarity. To influence with integrity. And to help the business move forward with confidence.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be a trusted legal partner to the organisation, providing clear, practical advice across a broad range of corporate, finance and regulatory matters. You’ll work closely with colleagues across Lloyd’s, helping teams make informed decisions while managing legal risk in a transparent, proportionate way.
Day to day, you’ll:
  • Deliver high‑quality, business‑focused legal advice across corporate and finance matters, including UK and overseas regulatory issues
  • Get involved early in projects and programmes, helping shape outcomes rather than reacting to them
  • Identify and manage legal risk, keeping advice pragmatic and aligned to Lloyd’s risk appetite
  • Translate complex legal issues into clear, accessible guidance for non‑legal stakeholders
  • Build and improve legal templates, tools and guidance to make ways of working simpler and faster
  • Manage multiple priorities at pace, without losing sight of what matters most
  • Instruct and manage external counsel when specialist support is needed, focusing on quality and value
  • Challenge existing processes constructively and help drive continuous improvement across the Legal team
You’ll also contribute to an open, inclusive culture where people feel confident to speak up, ask questions and do the right thing.
What you’ll bring
You’re a qualified solicitor or barrister with a current practising certificate. You bring sound technical expertise, strong judgement and the confidence to work autonomously while staying closely connected to the wider team.
You’ll likely have:
  • Experience gained in private practice and/or in‑house, covering corporate, finance and regulatory work
  • Strong commercial awareness and a solutions‑focused mindset
  • The ability to manage competing deadlines and complex stakeholder relationships
  • Clear, confident communication skills, both written and verbal
  • The confidence to challenge constructively and deliver difficult messages with clarity and respect
  • A collaborative approach and the curiosity to keep learning
Experience in insurance, the London Market or another regulated financial services environment is a plus, but not essential.

Diversity and inclusion are a focus for us – Lloyd’s aim is to build a diverse, inclusive environment that reflects the global markets we work in.  One where everyone is treated with dignity and respect to achieve their full potential. In practice, this means we are positive and inclusive about making workplace adjustments, we offer regular health and wellbeing programmes, diversity and inclusion training, employee networks, mentoring and volunteering opportunities as well as investment into your professional development. You can read more about diversity and inclusion on our website.

We understand that our work/life balance is important to us all and that a hybrid of working from the office and home can offer a great level of flexibility.  Flexible working forms part of a total reward approach which offers a host of other benefits over and above the standard offering (generous pension, healthcare, wellbeing etc).  These include financial support for training, education & development, a benefit allowance (to spend on our flexible benefits such as gym membership, dental insurance, extra holiday or to partake in our cycle to work scheme), employee recognition scheme and various employee discount schemes.

By choosing Lloyd's, you'll be part of a team that brings together the best minds in the industry, and together with our underwriters and brokers, we create innovative, responsive solutions allowing us to share risk and solve complex problems.
