This is a marvellous role if you enjoy working on the whole software life cycle and love seeing how your work fits into the greater picture.

Due to increased workload, the Simulation & Modelling team are looking for an experienced C++ software engineer to work on spacecraft simulation. This role will be focusing on designing and development of simulators and test benches that  enable a wide range of departments to validate and verify spacecraft functionality.

You will be joining a small collaborative team working closely with testers, designers, and architects. While your main focus will be creating software for spacecraft simulation, you’ll be encouraged to consider the whole architecture. This means gathering requirements, keeping testing in mind, and balancing performance, security, reliability, and compliance.

How you will Contribute to the team:

  •  Work on Telecommunications, Earth Observation & Science missions Projects like  ARIEL, Vigil, ExoMars Rover, OneSat (and more) for ESA and the UK MOD

  • Understand that your software is used for testing spacecraft software and hardware, which results in moving requirements and sometimes the need to clarify those requirements

  • Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure the successful deployment and use of the test benches. Knowledge share with Early Careers Engineers

  • Technical requirements analysis, software design and implementation, technical follow up of external teams, system integration, testing and delivery of the benches.

About you

  • Someone who brings ideas to the table and holds your hand up with questions or spotting red flags within the full software lifecycle

  • Due to security restrictions most of our technology will be legacy / historic, you need to be comfortable with this

  • Machine to Machine (M2M) / network protocols and experience with Linux/Unix (any distro) and happy to work with Redhat

  • Object Oriented analysis & design using UML (or similar), with good knowledge of development domains, frameworks and utilities

  • Excellent and proven C++ programming skills especially in the development of robust client/server architectures

  • Proven track record of managing the full software development life cycle, from initial requirements gathering through to final testing

Not a 100% match? No worries! Airbus supports your personal growth with customised development solutions.
