Software Engineer III - AIML Experimentation, Observability and Governance

Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable full-stack software and cloud infrastructure (AWS/Terraform). Deliver production code, troubleshoot complex systems, drive CI/CD and IaC automation, analyze data for problem solving, mentor junior engineers, and apply/validate enterprise AI-assisted development while promoting responsible AI, resiliency, and security.
As a Software Engineer III at JPMorganChase within AMDP, you will play a pivotal role in an agile team, helping to define, design, build, and maintain state-of-the-art technology products. Leveraging your hands-on experience, you will deliver secure, stable, and scalable software solutions, with a strong focus on Full Stack development and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Terraform).
Job Responsibilities
- Define, design, build, and maintain robust software solutions, ensuring scalability, security, and operational stability across multiple systems and applications.
- Develop high-quality, secure production code in modern programming languages, and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues, considering upstream and downstream system impacts, and proactively resolve bottlenecks.
- Drive automation and efficiency by applying advanced knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) toolchain, including CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
- Develop, review, and debug code across the stack (front-end, back-end, and cloud), ensuring best practices and code quality.
- Analyze large, diverse data sets to identify and solve problems, contributing to informed decision-making for secure, stable application development.
- Champion agile methodologies, application resiliency, and security throughout the development process.
- Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity across complex deliverables (e.g., code generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards; contributes learnings and reusable patterns to improve broader team effectiveness.
- Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
- Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and respect within the team, actively participating in knowledge sharing and collaboration.
Required Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Proven, production-oriented software engineering experience in large-scale environments.
- Hands-on experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stability, with a strong Full Stack background (front-end and back-end).
- Proficiency in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in one or more modern programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript).
- Solid experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure automation using Terraform.
- Demonstrated ability to support technical initiatives and mentor junior engineers.
- Strong experience across the entire Software Development Life Cycle, including CI/CD, application resiliency, and security best practices.
- Proficiency in database design and querying (SQL/NoSQL).
- Experience working in agile teams and leveraging coding assistants and development harnesses to streamline software delivery.
- Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, test creation, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate, validate, and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
- Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; ability to guide peers on safe and effective usage within team practices.
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
- Experience with modern front-end technologies (e.g., React, Angular, Vue).
- Advanced knowledge of cloud technologies, especially AWS and Terraform.
- Familiarity with AIML/GenAI tools and platforms.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a track record of delivering high-impact solutions.
