About the team and the role

The Advertising team is reinventing advertising at eBay by building modern, scalable advertising technology and internal tools that improve monetization and create valuable experiences for sellers and buyers.

In this role, you will have an approximately 60% backend and 40% frontend focus, owning critical internal tools and workflow experiences across the advertising ecosystem. You will lead the development of advertising creative components, build tools that support ad serving, and create intuitive, high-quality experiences for internal users and partner teams. Working closely with product managers, designers, engineers, and cross-functional partners, you will deliver effective user experiences supported by reliable services and APIs.

What you will accomplish
  • Own advertising creative components and the systems used to configure, manage, and operate them.

  • Build scalable internal tools and workflow-management systems that improve operational efficiency, reliability, and visibility.

  • Deliver intuitive, performant, accessible, and secure applications for internal users and partner teams, supported by highly available services and APIs.

  • Partner with product, design, engineering, and cross-functional teams to turn operational needs into effective end-to-end experiences and deliver improvements iteratively.

  • Contribute across the technology stack, with a focus on APIs, integration layers, service contracts, and backend services that support frontend experiences and advertising workflows.

  • Improve engineering efficiency and quality through reusable UI components, shared libraries, scalable application patterns, testing, continuous delivery, and monitoring.

  • Contribute to technical design and code reviews, implementation planning, risk identification, and mentoring while maintaining high standards for code quality and ownership.

What you will bring
  • A BS/MS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience, with knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and software design.

  • Experience building modern web applications using JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and UI frameworks such as React, including reusable component libraries and state-management patterns.

  • Experience creating responsive, user-centered interfaces with a focus on UX, accessibility, frontend performance, site speed, quality, and web security.

  • Experience with Node.js, RESTful APIs, backend-for-frontend or service integration patterns, plus working knowledge of Java, Scala, or similar backend technologies.

  • Experience with testing across UI and service layers, source control, CI/CD, and Agile development practices.

  • Experience building internal tools, operational dashboards, workflow-management systems, creative tooling, preview systems, templated content experiences, or modular UI frameworks. Experience in advertising, marketing technology, or ad serving is beneficial.

  • Collaboration and time-management skills, including experience working across functions and geographies, managing concurrent priorities, and contributing to experimentation, analytics instrumentation, and data-informed product development.
