Software Development Engineer II

We’re looking for a highly motivated and fast learner to be part of our growing team of technologists. As a SDE II, you’ll write software alongside a team of engineers on projects that matter to our customers and business travelers. This team values “fail fast” learners and technology enthusiasts who find fun in learning. Your design and code will directly contribute to solving technical challenges at Amex GBT.

What You’ll Do

• Design and implement next-generation highly scalable, and reliable SaaS applications

• Translate functional specifications into logical, component-based technical designs

• Own delivery of application features end-to-end

• Innovate and implement new ideas to solve complex software problems

• Participate in code reviews

• Work closely with geographically distributed team members

• Mentor, support and develop junior engineers

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or equivalent

• 2+ years of experience in software development

Core Skills and Knowledge Areas

• Front-end web technologies (JavaScript, Node, or React) and frameworks, CSS

• Enterprise web applications (Java, Kotlin, or Spring)

• AI Technologies (Spring AI, A2A, MCP)

• Object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms

• SDLC and agile methodologies, and agile tools and programming practices

• CI-CD principles and technologies

• Sharp debugging skills with passion for finding bugs and fixing them

Beneficial If You Have

• AWS services (developing and deploying AWS cloud-based platforms)

• Insight about server-side design patterns

• Passionate about collaboration and incorporating feedback from partners
