About the Role:

The Trust Platform team builds and maintains the systems that orchestrate fraud detection, identity verification, and regulatory reporting across all Remitly products. Our mission is to keep customers safe and Remitly compliant while ensuring fast, reliable, and user friendly identity verification.

As an SDE I on Trust Platform, you will develop systems that are foundational to Remitly's business. You'll contribute to initiatives that improve KYC/identity verification, regulatory screening, fraud detection, and compliance reporting, ensuring these services are scalable, fault-tolerant, and reusable across products.

You'll work closely with engineering managers, product, and analytics partners to provide high-impact features and platform capabilities that keep Remitly compliant while providing a seamless customer experience. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager of Trust Orchestration Platform.

You Will:

  • Contribute to the design and development of core Trust Platform services.

  • Deliver reliable, secure, and performant backend systems.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on business, regulatory, and technical requirements.

  • Own features end-to-end, from design to deployment and ongoing operation.

  • Grow your technical skills through mentorship, code reviews, and exposure to complex system design.

You Have:

  • 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.

  • Experience building and operating backend systems in a production environment.

  • Strong fundamentals in system design, data modeling, and performance optimization.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or similar).

  • Familiarity with distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, and cloud environments (AWS preferred).

  • A track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable code in a collaborative environment.

Compensation Details

The starting base salary range for this position is typically $124,000–$155,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
