Over the past couple of years, Mars Snacking has been on a global journey of creating scalabale Integrated Brand Experiences and elevating our content efforts across digital touchpoints. 

As a business we have an opportunity to unlock the power of Social Media as a brand building tool and and build closer connections to consumers. We are now driving an ambition to reimagine how we show up on our brand social media channels and we need a talented Social Media Manager (SMM) to join our efforts. This role sits within the BCCHub team (Brand Content & Conversion Hub) and supports a Global and multi market EU&CE social media agenda.

The key purpose of this role is to support our social media agenda across brands in the Mars Snacking portfolio. The SMM will help manage the development and operationalisation of ground breaking social media strategies for our brands, while driving excellence, effectiveness, brand love and conversion against our PESO (Paid, Earned, Owned & Shared) framework. The role is a hands on expert who will work with a range of specialist agency partners.

What are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in a relevant marketing role where content and social media development and execution were a key part of the role.

  • Proven experience developing and implementing successful technical social, platform and media strategies.

  • Ability to analyse data and trends and turn these into insight to define appropriate recommendations and strategies.

  • Experience in social brand building capability within an organisation.

  • Excellent creative, design and copywriting skills with the ability to create engaging social plans and content. Ability to understand, replicate and develop the unique identity and TOV of multiple brands and flex tone and storytelling accordingly.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Help the BCC Social Team continue to define, lead and evolve our Regional Social Reimagination Strategy as a part of PESO. This will span multiple social platforms and efforts across content development, community management, influencers etc.

  • Work closely & collaboratively with key stakeholders (e.g. Media, Brand Teams, Corporate Affairs, PR, Consumer Care and DCOM) across the business to ensure connected and effective social strategies and content plans.

  • Manage the day to day relationship with our specialist agency partners (including onboarding new agencies where relevant) and social platform partners and ensure they deliver against commitments for social (based on SOWs, global JBP agreements etc) and help us drive audience led creative excellence in Social.

  • Drive social excellence and consistency across the region, managing the relationships with local markets and supporting the development and implementation of regional structures, processes and governance. Support and guide local markets in the deployment and management of social campaign, reactive and influencer content.

  • Leverage our Social tool (Sprinklr) to manage and measure social performance, defining and tracking KPIs and benchmarks to measure the impact of social and translating data into recommendations to optimise content and drive incremental change.

  • Support the Global Responsible Marketing team with the Brand Safety agenda where required. Help manage the European social approach to crises and managing brand risk.

  • Educate and engage internal stakeholders on the value and power of social media, as well as social best practice, ensuring a collective understanding on the roles and performance of our channels across the business.

  • Work with our Media, DCOM and Insights teams to support a test and learn programme for social, including investigation and trial of new platforms, social commerce pilots and content types that will drive our brand and growth objectives.

  • Drive social excellence and expertise within the team and beyond through a continuous learning agenda. Keep up to date with evolving social media features and trends as well as keeping a close eye on and taking learnings from what others brands are doing across different channels. 

  • Ensure the wider BCC team are equipped with the social knowledge to ensure  briefs lead to the development of multi-format, multi-platform, social first campaigns and compelling IBE toolkits, aligned to brand strategies and driving awareness, cultural relevance, engagement and conversion. 

  • Work with the Content Operations & Production Director to support the definition of optimal Social ways of working and manage the overall Social Media budget.

  • Act as a social brand guardian for MW, knowing the brands, the audience and the guidelines and restrictions we operate within (health and wellness, legal and marketing restrictions etc.) and championing these across the business and with all our partners.
