Location: Cambridge, UK – This position offers flexible working options, including predominantly remote work.
We’re looking for a culturally tuned-in, creator-savvy Social Media Manager to join our Marketing team on a 6-month temporary basis

This is an execution-focused role: bringing campaigns, updates and community moments to life across Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, X and TikTok.

You’ll turn strategy into standout content — delivering short-form video, timely engagement and creator collaborations that feel authentic to the OSRS community. While your core focus will be Old School RuneScape, you may also support RuneScape and RuneScape: Dragonwilds during high-priority campaigns.

Strategy and direction will be provided by the internal team. Your role is to make the magic happen.

What you'll be doing: Campaign & Content Execution
  • Execute social campaigns supporting product updates, in-game events and key marketing beats
  • Produce, edit and publish high-performing social-first content — with a strong focus on short-form video
  • Collaborate with internal creative services to deliver engaging, platform-native assets
  • Work with creators and community members to amplify reach, authenticity and relevance
  • Ensure content reflects a deep understanding of OSRS gameplay, culture and the creator ecosystem
Community Engagement & Interaction
  • Engage daily with players across social channels in an informed, friendly and authentic voice
  • Respond to player comments, feedback and questions promptly and professionally
  • Moderate discussions and escalate issues to Community or Player Support where needed
  • Champion a welcoming, inclusive and player-first tone across all platforms
Creator Relationships & Advocacy
  • Identify and build relationships with creators and community advocates
  • Track emerging voices, trends and memes within the RuneScape creator scene and wider gaming culture
  • Support creator collaborations that elevate campaigns and strengthen community connection
Reporting & Insight
  • Monitor performance metrics across channels
  • Provide light-touch weekly reporting on content performance and player sentiment
  • Surface emerging opportunities, community feedback and real-time risks to internal teams
Live Operations Support
  • Provide on-the-ground social support during updates, live events and unexpected outages
  • Help manage real-time communications, including around leaks or service disruptions
  • Collaborate closely with Community to ensure accurate and timely updates during live moments
  • Support RuneScape and RuneScape: Dragonwilds teams during priority campaign activations when required
What were looking for:
  • Familiarity with RuneScape, the MMORPG category and the wider gaming industry
  • Proven experience creating short-form video and social-first content
  • Fluency in gaming culture, from Reddit threads to TikTok trends
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, community-driven environment
  • Confidence operating independently within a defined strategic framework
  • Most importantly, you understand that social at Jagex is about community first- celebrating player creativity, amplifying authentic voices and showing up in ways that feel genuine, timely and fun.
