Role: Social Media Manager - 7 month Fixed Term Contract

Location: London, United Kingdom (with occasional travel to Weybridge)

THE OPPORTUNITY

This is an opportunity to join a brand-new OLIVER hair care client as a Social Media Manager, creating culturally relevant, platform-native content across European Instagram and UK TikTok. You'll shape how we show up for an already huge following in haircare. You'll create credible, inclusive content for different hair types and needs, including frizzy, curly and dry hair.

This role is for someone who lives and breathes social media and is genuinely excited by haircare, beauty, and culture. You’ll know the trends, creators, conversations and behaviours shaping British feeds - and how to turn them into platform-native content that earns attention. You’ll work in a fast-paced, social-first environment where the brief is simple: make the brand one of the most entertaining, relevant and recognisable haircare brands on UK social.

THE ROLE

You'll be responsible for how the brand appears across its European Instagram and UK TikTok channels, from cultural insight and planning to publishing, community engagement and optimisation. With a hero product range focusing on the needs of frizzy, curly and dry hair, your content must be engaging, credible and inclusive of a diverse range of hair types and communities. You'll understand how audience behaviour, hair concerns and cultural trends differ by country, balancing a consistent brand identity with locally relevant content.

You'll report to the Social Media Lead and work independently day to day, making timely decisions on content and cultural opportunities. Success means content that is relevant across Europe and the UK, authentically represents diverse hair types and needs, and is native to each platform and true to the brand's personality. Growth, engagement and brand affinity across every hair community should keep improving.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Manage the European Instagram and UK TikTok channels day to day, publishing always-on, campaign and reactive content accurately, on time and in the right format for each platform, market and hair audience.
  • Be responsible for the content calendar, balancing always-on content, campaigns, haircare education, NPD launches, creator-led content and reactive opportunities, with a healthy mix for frizzy, curly, dry and other hair types.
  • Track European and UK culture, beauty and haircare trends, creators and conversations around different hair types, and turn market-specific opportunities into distinctive social ideas.
  • Develop authentic content for diverse hair types and needs, particularly frizzy, curly and dry hair, that is relevant, useful and credible for the communities it represents.
  • Translate the hero product range and NPD roadmap into social-first stories that communicate the specific needs of different hair types, without falling back on generic beauty content.
  • Write social copy and support short-form video scripts and briefs. Optimise captions, hooks, formats, audio and calls to action for each platform and hair need, and keep every post consistent with the brand's tone of voice, accessibility standards and visual identity. Capture or edit quick-turnaround content where required.
  • Build active communities by responding to comments, messages and mentions in a warm, playful voice. Surface recurring questions and feedback on hair types, needs and product experiences, and escalate sensitive issues appropriately.
  • Monitor performance and turn the data into clear recommendations on what to scale, optimise, test and stop, identifying which hair topics, formats and needs resonate most.
  • Work with influencer and creator teams to identify creators who credibly represent a breadth of hair types and needs, and support briefs, content reviews and delivery.
  • Partner with strategists, designers, editors, data, media and account teams to align priorities and approvals. Maintain workflows and platform guidelines, including guidance on representing diverse hair types.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Proficiency in social media management, content or digital marketing, including managing brand channels on Instagram and TikTok, and using scheduling, listening and analytics tools.
  • Pan-European social media experience, ideally across multiple markets, with an understanding of how audience behaviour, hair habits and cultural trends vary by market.
  • Experience working with consumer brands. Haircare, beauty or FMCG experience is especially valuable.
  • A strong understanding of haircare content and the needs, conversations and communities around diverse hair types, particularly frizzy, curly and dry hair.
  • Experience developing inclusive, authentic haircare or beauty content that reflects diverse hair types and avoids a one-size-fits-all approach.
  • Practical knowledge of Instagram and TikTok, including algorithms, short-form storytelling, content formats and community management.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt to a distinctive brand voice and write briefs, scripts and captions that speak to different hair types and needs.
  • A track record of improving social performance through creative and data-led optimisation.
  • Sound judgement on representation, inclusivity, cultural sensitivity and reputational risk, bringing the brand's playful, optimistic spirit to life without clichés or stereotypes.
  • Strong calendar and workflow management with close attention to detail, and the confidence to make decisions and respond quickly to cultural opportunities.
  • Clear, constructive communication across creative, strategy, influencer, data, media and brand teams.
  • Professional proficiency in English, basic mobile content capture or editing skills, and a genuine interest in haircare and beauty.

Gen AI & Agentic Thinking

  • Proficiency with Gen AI tools for idea generation, copy variations, content planning and performance analysis, including content tailored to different hair types and needs.
  • Experience building personal AI workflows to improve efficiency and quality.
  • An agentic approach to problem-solving, breaking complex challenges into clear steps.
  • The ability to critically evaluate AI outputs and apply human judgement, protecting cultural insight, authentic representation of diverse hair types, originality and brand voice.

Qualifications: Formal degrees are welcome but not required. Equivalent experience counts. Experience can be gained through work, study, volunteering or self-directed learning.

If you're excited about this role but don't meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply.
