Your Role: Broadcast Journalist

LBC’s Social Media Manager will report to LBC’s Head of Social Media and will play a meaningful role in creating compelling content that sets the news agenda and brings LBC’s award-winning on-air content to the online environment.

As a Social Media Manager at Global, you will:

Key Responsibilities

  • Photo/video editing (30%): Taking LBC’s on-air content and reporter-made off-air content and creating compelling social media videos for our various platforms. You’ll also make thumb-stopping images that make our clips stand out from the crowd.
  • Copywriting (30%): Crafting attention-grabbing sells and engaging headlines.
  • Management (20%): Deputising for the Head of Social Media and running the team in their absence.
  • Strategy (20%): Recognising patterns and trends to determine what sort of content to create to best serve our audience.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Learnt the ins and outs of what makes LBC’s audience tick.
  • Continued the positive trajectory of follower-growth.
  • Built good working relationships within the social media team and with LBC presenters
  • and producers.

What You’ll Need

  • Adobe Suite proficiency: Premiere Pro and Photoshop skills are required.
  • Attention to detail: Our content is regularly watched millions of times. We don’t want millions of people to see a mistake next to the LBC name! Disciplined proof-checking is required.
  • Creativity: Finding fun and inventive ways to sell our content to as many viewers as possible.
  • Pride in your work: Numbers aren’t everything. We want to create a good product that our audience can enjoy and appreciate. Let’s make beautiful content.
  • Coaching and Development: Nurturing talent by empowering and guiding individuals to unlock their potential
  • Building Trust: Creating and maintaining an inclusive environment where diverse views and experiences are welcomed and celebrated in your team
  • Creativity: Finding fun and inventive ways to sell our content to as many viewers as possible.
