It’s an exciting time to be joining the Social Impact team at Nationwide. As well as delivering meaningful impact for communities across the UK and supporting Nationwide’s ambition to be a beacon for mutual good, we’re shaping the next phase of our Fairer Futures strategy.

As a Social Impact Consultant within our Reporting & Operations team, you’ll play a key role in programme planning, governance, risk management, budget oversight and impact reporting, helping ensure activity is well managed, effectively measured and aligned to our commitments.

We’re looking for someone who is enthusiastic, proactive and highly organised, with a passion for delivering positive social outcomes. You’ll work collaboratively with colleagues across the Society and charity partners, helping strengthen ways of working, support partnership management and drive continuous improvement across the team.

In doing so, you’ll contribute to Nationwide’s ambition to be a Beacon for Mutual Good, supporting initiatives that create lasting value for the people and communities we serve.

This role sits within the Group Customer & Communications (GCC) function. The function’s purpose is to understand our customers and create meaningful engagement opportunities, alongside delivering compelling experiences and communications. Customer Strategy, Marketing, Brand, Digital, and Legal, Regulatory & Mandatory Communications all sit within GCC, along with responsibility for our Social Impact agenda.

Working in GCC, you’ll be part of the Social Impact team, which leads the Society’s approach to social impact, shaping strategy, building colleague and customer participation, and delivering programmes that create meaningful and measurable change. This includes delivering our Fairer Futures strategy, which focuses on tackling some of society’s biggest challenges through long-term partnerships with Centrepoint, Action for Children, Dementia UK and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. Since launching Fairer Futures in 2024, we’ve helped more than 200,000 people through these partnerships.

This role sits within the Reporting & Operations team, which provides the foundations that enable the wider Social Impact team to deliver successfully. The team is responsible for programme planning, governance, budget management, operational tools and platforms, risk oversight, third-party management and performance reporting. Through high-quality insight and analysis, the team tracks progress, measures outcomes and helps ensure we deliver against our commitments.

We are happy to consider flexible working approaches to help you perform at your best.
The working hours (per week) for this role can be between 28 and 35 hours.

At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.

For this job you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.

If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

Responsibilities

What you’ll be doing

You'll play a key role in delivering Nationwide's Fairer Futures strategy by supporting operational excellence across the Social Impact function. Working across a diverse portfolio of programmes, partnerships and colleague engagement initiatives, you'll help ensure the team has the reporting, processes, financial oversight and operational support needed to deliver effectively and demonstrate impact.

A core part of the role will be supporting the management of the Social Impact budget, maintaining forecasts, completing financial reconciliations and providing regular reporting on spend. Working closely with finance colleagues, charity partners and suppliers, you'll help ensure financial processes are managed effectively, including administering purchase orders, charitable giving activity and partner payments.

You'll also support reporting and insight activity, helping to produce high-quality internal and external reporting that tracks progress against our Fairer Futures commitments, measures outcomes and communicates the real-world impact of our work. You'll contribute to dashboards, performance updates and impact reports, translating data into clear, engaging insight that supports decision-making and brings our social impact story to life.

Operational management will form an important part of the role. You'll coordinate and maintain team processes, governance activities and operational controls, helping ensure activity is delivered in line with Society policies and standards. This includes managing team mailboxes, maintaining SharePoint sites and documentation, supporting team activities, and helping create efficient, well-governed ways of working.

Working closely with charity partners, suppliers and other third parties, you'll help ensure we deliver against agreed objectives and create positive outcomes. This includes coordinating partner reviews, tracking impact measures, supporting supplier oversight and building strong working relationships.

Alongside this, you'll contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting, processes and operational effectiveness across Social Impact. By identifying opportunities to enhance systems, strengthen controls and improve insight, you'll help build the foundations that enable the team to maximise its impact for customers, colleagues and communities.
