The ideal candidate will be responsible for setting the overall vision for the UI of our application, and enforcing standards around UI & Design development. Our work involves solving complex issues for large-scale product development — with high quality, optimal performance and perfectly adaptive and design matching UI and UX. You will be working closely with the product team, graphical designers and backend engineers, and quality assurance team to provide a world-class software platform empowering ClickUp. We need somebody who understands challenges of rapid growth startups. You will have to be able to express your philosophy and ideas to both technical and non-technical audience.

 

NOTE: This is not a traditional frontend product team role, and requires expertise in UI architecture and design, and a strong understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms. If you are looking to contribute toward traditional core product feature development work, please direct your application to one of our Frontend Engineer positions. 

 

The Role:

 

  • Envision, develop, and enforce the global UI architecture and design systems for our frontend application.
  • Contribute clean code that follows strict design rules and modern patterns
  • Provide technical know how and expertise to other engineering teams and organizations
  • Participate in the UI & Design architecture councils, creating and reviewing proposals, and working with teams to implement architectural and design system changes
  • Evaluate complex business requirements from the executive team, and translate those into actionable software items

Qualifications:

  • 7-10+ years working experience on large-scale JS/TS/CSS/SASS/HTML style products
  • 4+ years of experience with large design systems and tokens using Figma
  • Proficient with TypeScript, Angular/React, and vanilla JavaScript
  • Proficient understanding of server-side CSS pre-processing platforms, such as SASS and dynamic ones such as CSS-in-JS and CSS Variables.
  • Excellent presentation and story-telling skills are a must
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability

Preferred:

  • Expertise with various build and release management tools related to UI/UX development
  • Expertise in managing accessibility for small, medium, and large customers.
  • Experience working in rapid-growth startups
