The Role
We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated Senior UI Engineer to work in an exciting and dynamic environment. The successful candidate will enjoy working within a team and solving challenging problems. They will also have a track record in developing high quality software, working within tight deadlines, and have a continuous improvement and customer-focused mindset. Experience in the travel or retail industry would be an advantage.
What you will be doing:
- Translate business requirements into the design and development of UI and test small to medium sized features to the highest standards.
- Understand the business drivers behind each feature.
- Gain feedback continuously from users, customers, and stakeholders.
- Write reusable code and libraries (with matching documentation) to a standard which makes it quick and easy to maintain the code in the future.
- Take ownership of UI technical decisions and provide leadership on our UI initiatives within the projects and company.
- Contribute towards initiatives to improve the software development process.
- Optimize applications for performance, stability, and availability for mission-critical systems.

Skills and Experience
You will need to have:
- BS or MS in Computer Science (or related technical discipline) or equivalent industry experience.
- 5 years’ experience as a front-end /UI Developer/ JavaScript developer with the curiosity and desire to learn new platforms, technologies, approaches, libraries, and languages.
- JavaScript /Typescript programming with experience of MVC frameworks ReactJS.
- Knowledge and experience with HTML5, CSS3.
- Knowledge of web standards, responsive web design, performance, accessibility
- Experience leading UI projects with 3 or more UI developers working with stakeholders at each level in the organization.
- Experience with full lifecycle software development, the associated tools, processes and methodologies including modern front-end build pipelines and tools.
- Experience consuming/publishing REST APIs.
- Disciplined creator of automated tests for your own code including testing frameworks such as jest.
- Knowledge of UI layouts, SASS, LESS, Bootstrap, and the CSS GRID system.
- Understanding of UX and UI principles.
- Good knowledge and practical experience of client-side build/config management
- Good understanding and experience of code versioning tools, such as Bitbucket or Git.
- Good experience of debugging using JavaScript-based tools like Chrome Developer Console.
- Exposure to Continuous Integration/Delivery pipeline for cloud, including Jenkins, Docker, etc.
- Agile Software Development experience with Kanban or Scrum.
