Job Title: Senior Trading Standards Officer (2 posts)

Salary: £45,624 - £52,038 per annum 

Grade:

Contract Type: 1 x Permanent and 1 x Fixed-Term 12 months (Please state your preference in your application)

Join Thurrock Council's Trading Standards Team

We are seeking two experienced and motivated Senior Trading Standards Officers to join our Trading Standards service.. From bustling retail parks to one of the world's busiest container ports, Thurrock offers a varied, challenging and rewarding Trading Standards environment.

We are seeking:

  • 1 Senior Trading Standards Officer (Permanent) to provide broad support across the full range of Trading Standards functions as an experienced generalist practitioner.
  • 1 Senior Trading Standards Officer (12 months) to strengthen our product safety capability and support high-profile regulatory and enforcement work.  Working within a busy and varied service, you will collaborate with local, regional and national partners to protect consumers and ensure compliance with legislation. You will also contribute to wider Trading Standards priorities where required.

Whether your expertise lies in generic Trading Standards work, product safety, or complex investigations, this is an opportunity to make a real difference within a progressive and ambitious service.

This role is suited to a well-rounded Trading Standards professional who can work confidently across the full breadth of Trading Standards functions. You will handle a varied caseload and help support the delivery of the service's priorities.

What We Are Looking For

You will be an excellent communicator with the ability to manage a diverse workload, work collaboratively across teams and lead when required. You will have a strong track record of successful enforcement activity and be comfortable mentoring and supporting less experienced colleagues.

Essential Qualifications: Candidates should hold the Trading Standards Practitioner Diploma (TSPD) or an equivalent qualification (DCATS, DTS or DCA).

DBS Check: An Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required.
