What You’ll Do:

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Storage team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable storage systems. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Design and implement scalable and reliable services utilising a combination of private and public cloud (AWS) infrastructure. 
  • Continue to optimise and evolve our existing Storage services running on bare metal in our private cloud running Linux.
  • Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth. 
  • Create and maintain succinct and comprehensive technical documentation for architectures, processes, and procedures. 
  • Monitor and provide on-call support during critical incidents and implement preventive measures. 
  • Monitor and analyse AWS usage, providing recommendations for cost savings without compromising system performance and reliability. 
  • Craft resilient, secure, and efficient code, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime. 

 What You’ll Bring: 

  • Demonstratable ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive team culture. 
  • Demonstratable expertise in Java development, with a strong command of Java 11 and above. 
  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and optimizing backend systems for data processing and storage at scale. 
  • Proven experience in supporting your services in a live production environment. 
  • Experience working with Java applications deployed in Linux or *nix operating systems. 
  • Experience with foundational AWS services, such as; EKS, EC2, S3, EFS, IAM, CloudWatch, ALB. 
  • Experience with infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation. 
  • Hands-on experience with Jenkins and establishing robust CI/CD pipelines.
