What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Software Engineer in the Storage team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable storage systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and implement scalable and reliable services utilising a combination of private and public cloud (AWS) infrastructure.
- Continue to optimise and evolve our existing Storage services running on bare metal in our private cloud running Linux.
- Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
- Create and maintain succinct and comprehensive technical documentation for architectures, processes, and procedures.
- Monitor and provide on-call support during critical incidents and implement preventive measures.
- Monitor and analyse AWS usage, providing recommendations for cost savings without compromising system performance and reliability.
- Craft resilient, secure, and efficient code, ensuring optimal performance and minimal downtime.
What You’ll Bring:
- Demonstratable ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment, mentoring junior team members and contributing to a positive team culture.
- Demonstratable expertise in Java development, with a strong command of Java 11 and above.
- Proven experience in designing, developing, and optimizing backend systems for data processing and storage at scale.
- Proven experience in supporting your services in a live production environment.
- Experience working with Java applications deployed in Linux or *nix operating systems.
- Experience with foundational AWS services, such as; EKS, EC2, S3, EFS, IAM, CloudWatch, ALB.
- Experience with infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins and establishing robust CI/CD pipelines.
