The job 

We are looking for a passionate Senior Software Engineer to join our Core AI Services team at the forefront of industrial AI Innovation. In this role, you will help design, develop, and scale AI-enabling platform services, agentic workflows, and public APIs that are secure, reliable, and cloud-native. These services will act as foundational building blocks for AI adoption across AVEVA’s product portfolio and partner ecosystem.

Working at the forefront of agentic systems and harness engineering, you will join an agile Scrum team with a true builder mindset—delivering innovative, secure, and production-grade AI capabilities with the agility of a startup. This role is ideal for an engineer with a genuine passion for keeping up with the latest AI engineering patterns and practices, eager to translate emerging tech into reliable, enterprise-ready software. 

Key Responsibilities: 

• Design, build, and maintain scalable, fault-tolerant cloud-native services on Microsoft Azure. 

• Develop secure, well-documented public APIs and SDKs for consumption by internal engineering teams and external partners. 

• Drive feature implementation from design to production, taking ownership of code quality, performance, and system reliability. 

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver end-to-end solutions across data pipelines, orchestration layers, and service APIs. 

• Embed robust security controls, identity management, and privacy-by-design practices across all AI services. 

• Actively contribute to design reviews, code reviews, and technical discussions to champion engineering best practices. 

• Support and mentor junior and mid-level developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. 

Core Skills and Qualifications:  

• 5–8+ years of software engineering experience across the full stack, with strong expertise in cloud-native backend development (.NET C# a plus). 

• Hands-on experience with containerized deployments in Kubernetes. 

• Deep understanding of RESTful API design, versioning, testing, and full lifecycle management. 

• Strong knowledge of securing APIs (OAuth2, OIDC, RBAC) and implementing data privacy best practices. 

• Proficiency in using modern AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate daily engineering workflows. 

• Strong problem-solving abilities, with a track record of analysing complex technical challenges and delivering scalable solutions. 

• Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams across distributed global R&D locations. 

• Proven ability to mentor colleagues and elevate team code quality.

Hybrid working

We work in a hybrid way at AVEVA. Most roles are based at a local AVEVA office, with an expectation of being on-site 50% of your working hours to support collaboration and connection. Some positions are fully office-based depending on the nature of the work, and certain roles that support specific customers or markets may be remote. The working arrangement for this position will be confirmed during the hiring process.
