R&D Senior Scientist

Location: Slough, UK

As a Senior Scientist, you will deliver technical solutions to accelerate the development of purification processes for complex biotherapeutic treatments, helping maintain Lonza’s position as a leading global CDMO.

What you will do
  • Plan and execute studies in support of technology or process development projects
  • Independently manage high-throughput (HTP) purification workflows and troubleshoot equipment
  • Organize, curate, and analyze large datasets from primary recovery and purification studies
  • Author high-quality technical reports and publications, providing scientifically supported conclusions
  • Contribute to the assessment and implementation of emerging purification technologies
  • Maintain laboratory organization, ensure data integrity, and comply with cGxP and safety standards
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D Analytical, HTP Automation, Bioinformatics, and Purification Operations
What we are looking for
  • BSc or BEng in Biotechnology, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering (MSc/PhD preferred)
  • Business fluent in English
  • Advanced laboratory experience in DSP unit operations, including chromatography method development, scale-up, and process optimization
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot purification equipment and apply analytical data for process decisions
  • Strong scientific knowledge with the ability to analyze complex datasets and translate concepts into practical applications
  • Experience in authoring SOPs, technical reports, and driving continuous improvement initiatives
  • Demonstrated collaboration, agility, customer focus, and results-driven behavior
