We are currently looking for a Senior Project manager to join our Macmillan Education IT Team in London.

 

At Macmillan Education, the senior project Manager’s role is key to ensuring the success of project delivery, leveraging their experience and skills to build top-notch, learning products and services, harnessing the talents of the amazing people in our teams to make that happen.

 

How we manage projects:

Our projects deliver value to our global businesses, through our cross-discipline teams, consisting of inhouse staff as well as trusted development partners from a host of global organisations. As Senior project Manager you will work with the business to ensure the technical deliveries are understood, planned, tracked, delivered on time, to budget and are fit for purpose, including code best practice, accessibility, design and quality assurance.

We build our software incrementally, iteratively and continuously, to support our business demand for digital learning and online content sharing, to schools, institutes, and homes globally to enhance online learning. You will focus on strategic planning and tracking of milestones, dependencies and risk management to ensure teams are

What you will be doing:

  • Managing multiple technical projects within a business portfolio. Giving direction and support to scrum teams. Creating detailed project plans, tracking milestones, managing risk, providing clear updates on progress and releasing.

  • Acting as leader and mentor to our delivery teams. Working with the business to mitigate risks. Maintain planned development velocity.

  • Fostering team spirit, collaboration and developing a high performing, empowered team with a clear purpose and schedule of tasks.

  • Providing Management guidance and support, in all aspects of the project lifecycle – from product definition, technical decisions and user experience through to marketing and sales. 

  • Working with internal multiple teams, 3rd party suppliers to ensure that they understand our project goals and deliver within quality, cost and schedule.

  • Ensuring communications internally within the project and externally to stakeholders are clear and precise.

Desired experience:

  • Proven experience in managing multiple concurrent technology software development projects, to successful completion and able to demonstrate hands-on expertise.

  • Extensive experience of Managing third-party near & offshore vendors, responsible for delivering products or services to a high-standard.

  • You will be numerate and technically literate with a range of IT skills and an interest in improving our production processes.

  • Strong leader and experienced in developing team relationships. You value the contributions our teams make to the success of Macmillan Education and want to be part of a forward-thinking IT department. 

 

Your Experience:

  • Proven track record of delivering technical projects and providing leadership / oversight to Software Development, through Agile, waterfall or hybrid methodology, with extensive experience of managing multiple projects to desired milestones.

  • Strong leadership skills, able to demonstrate team direction to support delivery schedules, including managing risks / Issues, dependencies / mitigations, associated communications to all levels including C-level.

  • Demonstrable experience of building teams, business relationships and motivating / mentoring teams. Strong influencer who works well with matrix teams and business stakeholders. Leveraging the best from each department or skill to support delivery and team harmony.

  • Strong organiser, who is detailed, methodical, task orientated, able to adapt and adjust to focus milestones, which support OKR’s and KPI’s.  A confident goals and objectives setter, who can demonstrate experience of multitasking, whilst still delivering. Maximises teams’ skills and identifies deficiencies and creates associated mitigations / recommendations to optimise teams’ performance.
