We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead complex projects from initiation to successful implementation. The ideal candidate will have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget, and strong leadership abilities to motivate and engage cross-functional, geographically dispersed teams. They will be adept at managing contractual terms, procurement, and delivery lifecycles, as well as identifying and mitigating project risks. Proficiency in project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) and core applications (MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is essential. Experience in the Financial Services Regulated market is beneficial but not essential. You’ll be solution-focused, accountable, and able to build trust with diverse teams and technical experts.

Job Description:

What you will deliver:

  • Project Management - Day-to-day management and leadership of the project and the project team. Provide effective leadership and management controls. Design the project structure and organisation appropriate to stage. Set appropriate delivery methodologies. Manage effective transition between project phases, including cutover planning and transitioning projects to live operations to minimize transition risks. Identify and establish as required the Project Controls. Manage performance and report progress to sponsors. Create and lead the project to deliver the agreed outcomes within time, cost, and quality constraints. Deliver projects within contractual terms/settings, managing or working with commercial leads to complete the procurement, contracting, and delivery lifecycle.
  • Governance - Support effective governance and decision making. Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned. Ensure appropriate Benefits Realisation Strategy is in place and monitor longer term delivery of benefits against the business case. Identify, monitor and manage project risks and issues. Develop and implement mitigating actions and escalate as appropriate. Identify and work with related projects to manage interdependencies. Conduct delivery assurance on new client deals or projects, identifying delivery risks or considerations for commercial negotiations.
  • Financial ManagementDevelop, track and and manage delivery within budget and financial controls. Develop project information such as business cases or approval documentation to enable the management of budgets and financial reporting.
  • Resource Management - Identify skill requirements; and deploy including develop resources. May manage a medium sized team. Motivate and engage cross-functional, geographically dispersed, and virtual project teams.
  • Change and Requirements Management - Ensure effective change and requirements management processes are in place to agree, define and document changes to deliverables as agreed with stakeholders.
  • Leadership - Promote effective individual and team performance. Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives for the team. Lead by example, motivate, manage and support the project team as required to ensure effective delivery.
  • Line Management – Management of direct reports and the employee lifecycle as required. Provision of coaching and support to direct reports and ability to contribute to the improvement of Project and Programme Management standards and capabilities within the business unit.
  • Stakeholder Management - Identify and manage stakeholder relationships and need for senior level support. Communicate complex ideas and information to both technical/non-technical audiences, supporting project governance, achieving clear decisions, and managing expectations. Manage internal and external relationships as appropriate
  • Stakeholder ManagementBuild strong and trusted relationships with stakeholders, both internal and external to the organisation. Ensure that stakeholders are kept informed of project progress, risks and issues, and that their expectations are managed appropriately.

We are we looking for someone who has:

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder/client management skills, used to communicate complex ideas and information to both technical/non-technical audiences, support project governance, achieve clear decisions and manage expectations.
  • Proven and significant experience as a Project Manager at all stages of project delivery, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. Experience of cutover planning and transitioning projects to live operations.
  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to create and manage project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Experience of working in a structured project management environment, and an understanding of project management methodologies (e.g., PRINCE2, Agile) sufficient to ensure and implement an effective delivery approach and controls framework
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and engage cross functional, geographically dispersed and virtual project teams and direct reports.
  • Experience in developing project information such as business cases or approval documentation to enable the management of budgets and financial reporting, supporting or seeking necessary internal or client facing delivery approvals.
  • Experience in delivering Projects within contractual terms/settings, managing or working with, commercial leads to complete the procurement, contracting and delivery lifecycle with suppliers and/or clients.
  • Ability to conduct delivery assurance on new client deals or projects identifying delivery risks or considerations to be factored into commercial negotiations.
  • Knowledge of the requirements management lifecycle, with the ability to describe the difference between business and technical specifications, including material differences in scope and audience. Evidenced examples of specifications written or scenarios where you have managed business analysts to do the same. 
  • Capable of meeting strict deadlines, managing time, and prioritizing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient in using core applications, specifically MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Experience in JIRA or other requirement/test related tools desirable.
  • Prior experience of delivery within the Financial Services Regulated market and the application of regulatory requirements beneficial but not essential.
