Job Description

As a Senior Project / Programme Manager at Northern Data Group, you will be responsible for leading and managing multiple high-impact projects within the high-performance computing/data centre industry.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and clients to deliver high-quality results on time and within budget.

Additionally, you will mentor junior project managers and contribute to the continuous improvement of project management practices within the organisation. In this role, you will have the opportunity to shape the strategic direction of key projects, influence organisational practices, and position yourself for potential leadership opportunities in the future.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and execute comprehensive project plans, including timelines, milestones, resources, and budget estimates, aligned with the company’s strategic objectives.
  • Engage with stakeholders to understand project requirements, expectations, and deliverables. Maintain effective communication throughout the project lifecycle and ensure stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Lead and manage project teams, assigning clear roles and responsibilities, and fostering a collaborative and productive environment. Mentor and coach junior project managers to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor and manage risks throughout the project to minimise impact on project outcomes.
  • Efficiently allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and budget, to ensure project success.
  • Implement and oversee quality control measures to guarantee that project outputs meet or exceed standards and client expectations.
  • Track project progress using appropriate tools and techniques. Provide regular status updates and detailed reports to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Proactively address and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project, ensuring minimal disruption to project timelines and objectives.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive project documentation, including plans, reports, and meeting minutes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in project management. Contribute to the development and refinement of project management methodologies within the organisation.
  • Lead change management initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and adoption of new processes or technologies.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior project management role, preferably within the high-performance computing or data centre industries.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or Programme Management Professional (PgMP) certification, or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale, complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing multiple high-priority projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in project management software and tools such as Microsoft Project, Asana, Jira, or equivalent.
  • Strong understanding of high-performance computing and data centre technologies.
  • Expertise in Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall project management methodologies.
  • Advanced ability to analyse data and generate reports to inform decision-making.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
  • High level of adaptability and flexibility to manage changing project requirements and priorities.
  • Superior organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Undergraduate or Master's degree in Business, Project Management, or a related field (nice to have).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and data centre infrastructure management (nice to have).
  • Familiarity with data security and compliance standards relevant to the high-performance computing industry (nice to have).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
