Own a product area autonomously from strategy through delivery, making product decisions, developing subject-matter expertise, managing competing workstreams, and aligning Engineering, Design, stakeholders, and leadership. The role requires strong communication, commercial judgment, customer focus, comfort with front-end and back-end concepts, and knowledge of financial services compliance or journey optimization. Line management of PMs or APMs may be included.

We’re Capital on Tap 👋
💳 Capital on Tap started because small businesses were underserved. Big banks were slow, their products weren't fit for purpose, and small business owners often couldn't access what they needed. We set out to fix that.

Today we're a financial platform - not just a credit card company. We offer a best-in-class business credit card, SME-focused spend management platform, a savings product that hit £1 billion in funds within its first year, and a growing suite of tools and financial products that make running a small business easier.

1,000+ employees, £20bn in annual card spend, 200,000+ customers, 17,000+ Trustpilot reviews averaging 4.7 stars, and we're profitable. We’ve done a pretty good job so far, but we’re just getting started!

Product at Capital on Tap

Our Product team sits at the heart of everything we build. We move fast, work closely with engineering, and obsess over outcomes for our customers.

Product is organised into focused areas, each owning a distinct part of the customer and business journey:

  • Money movements and Banking products – our business banking proposition
  • Credit Products & Collections – credit lines, limits, pricing and collections
  • Customer Experience – the ongoing relationship customers have with us after activation
  • Operational Excellence – the tools and processes that make our internal teams more effective
  • Acquisition & Onboarding – how new and existing customers sign up and get activated
  • Fraud & FinCrime – protecting customers and the business from fraud and financial crime
  • Platform – the shared capabilities and infrastructure that other product areas build on
What You'll Be Doing
  • Owning an area end-to-end: making most product calls yourself, without seeking sign-off. You consult on the high-stakes calls and decide-and-inform on the rest
  • Acting as the peer voice on your area for leadership, not the delegate who brings back options
  • Bringing subject matter mastery that goes deeper than anyone else in the company on that area — you already know the competitive discourse, the customer pulse, and which questions actually matter versus which are noise
  • Spotting within minutes whether a new idea has been tried before, whether it fits, and what the real trade-off is
  • Distilling complexity into well-framed discussion points that let stakeholders and engineers contribute meaningfully, rather than needing to be talked through everything
  • Steering conversations toward the right outcome without needing to be right yourself, and giving others just enough context, just in time, so they stop chasing you for updates
  • Carrying multiple workstreams without dropping any of them — production stays clean, timelines hold or shift with early warning, and surprises don't land on your manager's desk
  • Absorbing noise so engineers can work in flow, and keeping scope honest
  • Depending on the scope of your area, you may line-manage PMs or APMs
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of owning an area autonomously and having your decisions stick without review
  • A gut that's earned trust because it's been right before, backed with data rather than hidden behind it
  • Subject matter mastery: you can walk into a conversation about your domain and already know where it's going
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills — you can take a complex problem and turn it into something others can act on
  • A track record of carrying multiple concurrent workstreams to delivery without things slipping quietly
  • Comfort working across both front-end user experience and back-end system architecture
  • Either existing knowledge of financial services and compliance concepts (for example KYC, KYB, IDV), or direct journey optimisation experience, ideally both
  • Experience partnering with Engineering and Design to communicate direction to stakeholders, up to leadership level
  • Prior experience line-managing PMs or APMs is a plus, though not required for every area
Our Hiring Bar

Alongside the role-specific experience above, every Product Manager candidate is assessed against a shared set of traits that we look for regardless of level or product area. At Senior level, we expect to see clear, demonstrated evidence of these — not potential.

  • Ships fast to customers – Gets things live quickly rather than over-polishing before release. Comfortable with iterative, incremental delivery.
  • Deals with ambiguity, adapts when priorities or requirements shift – Doesn't need a fully-formed brief to start moving. Handles the plan changing mid-flight without getting stuck.
  • Commercial acumen – Understands the business, the strategy, and how their product area drives outcomes such as revenue, retention or cost, not just delivery for its own sake.
  • Hungry to learn, no ego – Wants to develop, asks questions, takes feedback well.
  • AI curious – Actively uses or explores AI tools in their day-to-day work, rather than treating it as someone else's job.
  • Strong exec-level communication – Confident presenting up, comfortable being challenged, backs decisions with evidence rather than opinion.
  • Self starter – Moves without waiting to be told or chased. Takes ownership of problems even outside a strict brief.
  • Depth – Can go beyond the surface on their own product area – understands the mechanics, edge cases and trade-offs, not just the headline feature.
Interview Process
  • Stage 1: A quick 30-minute virtual intro with our Talent team to get to know you.
  • Stage 2: Meet a Lead Product Manager or Director of Product for 60 minutes. We can host you in the office or meet virtually.
  • Stage 3: A 45-minute office interview with 2–3 members of the wider Product/Engineering team, plus a further 45-minute interview with the Director of Product.
  • Stage 4: A 30-minute chat with the CEO.
Our Values & Culture
  • Just Pilot – We never settle for "good enough". We pilot new ideas fast, ask questions to figure it out, and scale quickly.
  • Why Not Today? – Fast is as slow as we go. Speed and simplicity give us a competitive advantage.
  • Be a Buddy – We tap in from day one to help the team, we do the right thing even if it's hard.
  • Owners and Dates – We don't chase people. If you own a task and agree to a date, the expectation is that it gets done.
  • Feedback – We want our employees to flourish, so we regularly provide direct and constructive feedback.

Diversity & Inclusion 🌈
We welcome, consider and encourage applications from anyone who shares our commitment to inclusivity. Join us in creating a space where authenticity thrives, and everyone can do their best work.

London isn't just a hub for established businesses; it's also a nursery for innovation. Boasting one of the most recognized fintech ecosystems in Europe, attracting billions in investments each year, London's success has made it a go-to destination for startups looking to make their mark. Top U.K. companies like Hoptin, Moneybox and Marshmallow have already made the city their base — yet fintech is just the beginning. From healthtech to renewable energy to cybersecurity and beyond, the city's startups are breaking new ground across a range of industries.
