Role Overview

The Finance ERP Lead is a senior role responsible for shaping, delivering, and optimising Kantar’s Finance ERP landscape, with a primary focus on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O). The role oversees system design, transformation delivery, and operational excellence while navigating a complex, stakeholder‑heavy environment undergoing significant structural change.

The individual will work closely with Finance, Transformation, Technology leadership, and external partners to ensure the ERP ecosystem is fit for a standalone business and aligned with the long‑term enterprise strategy.

Key Responsibilities

1. ERP Strategy, Design & Architecture

  • Own the end‑to‑end architectural design of the Finance ERP estate, ensuring alignment with business, regulatory, and transformation objectives.

  • Develop scalable and adaptable architectures for D365 F&O and associated financial platforms.

  • Provide market insight into ERP technology trends (e.g., SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Deltek Maconomy), guiding long‑term strategic decisions.

2. Transformation & Implementation Leadership

  • Lead major implementation and enhancement initiatives across D365 F&O, ensuring high‑quality design, integration, and delivery.

  • Oversee configuration, customisation, workflow design, data migration, and end‑to‑end integration patterns.

  • Drive solution optionality discussions with Finance and Technology stakeholders to balance value, risk, and cost.

3. Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Build strong, trusted relationships with Finance leadership, IT teams, transformation leaders, and external delivery partners.

  • Govern vendor performance, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, service levels, and cost effectiveness.

  • Act as a strategic liaison across business and technical domains, translating complex requirements into actionable technical direction.

4. Technical Leadership

  • Provide hands‑on technical guidance to vendor teams and internal SMEs, ensuring adherence to best practices.

  • Maintain architectural governance across integrations, data flows, and customisations.

  • Shape the technical roadmap for Finance ERP platforms in collaboration with Enterprise Architecture.

5. Performance, Operations & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee system performance, availability, and stability across the Finance ERP landscape.

  • Identify optimisation opportunities and work with partners to implement improvements.

  • Ensure robust operational processes including monitoring, release management, and environment controls.

6. Documentation, Compliance & Risk

  • Produce and maintain architectural documentation, configuration registers, integration maps, and user guides.

  • Ensure all Finance ERPs comply with regulatory, security, audit, and data privacy requirements.

  • Embed controls for data integrity, access governance, and financial compliance.

Capabilities & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Deep hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations including configuration, customisation, integrations, reporting, and workflow design.

  • Knowledge of other enterprise ERP systems such as:

    • SAP (ECC or S/4HANA)

    • Oracle Fusion / E‑Business Suite

    • Deltek Maconomy
This includes familiarity with their finance modules, integration models, data structures, and implementation approaches.

  • Understanding of modern integration technologies and middleware (e.g., Azure Integration Services, APIs, data entities).

  • Solid database understanding including data modelling, data integrity, and performance optimisation.

Architectural Skills

  • Ability to design scalable, secure, and resilient ERP architectures.

  • Experience evaluating and comparing ERP solution options to guide strategic platform decision‑making.

  • Strong understanding of cloud architecture (especially Azure), identity management, and enterprise security.

Analytical & Problem‑Solving

  • Strong capability in identifying and resolving complex functional and technical issues.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and solution designs.

  • Skilled at evaluating root causes and implementing long‑term fixes rather than tactical workarounds.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Proven ability to influence, challenge, and manage senior stakeholders in Finance and Transformation.

  • Experience leading multi‑vendor delivery environments and outsourced partner relationships.

  • Ability to operate effectively in environments with ambiguity, shifting priorities, and ongoing organisational change.

Performance & Reliability

  • Experience establishing system monitoring frameworks, tuning performance, and ensuring high availability.

  • Strong understanding of release management, testing frameworks, and environment governance.

Documentation & Compliance

  • Demonstrated capability in producing architectural artefacts, configuration documentation, and training materials.

  • Familiarity with financial regulatory requirements, SOX controls, data protection laws, and audit standards.

Personal Attributes

  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic environment with ambiguity and transformation.

  • Strong relationship‑builder with high emotional intelligence.

  • Strategic thinker with hands‑on delivery capability.

  • Confident communicator who can simplify complexity for senior stakeholders.

  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.
