The way researchers discover, read and derive insight from academic literature is changing rapidly. As the volume of published research continues to grow, AI-powered tools are enabling validated findings, evidence and knowledge to be analysed and synthesised at unprecedented scale. This creates a pivotal moment in scholarly discovery: an opportunity to help researchers navigate an ever-expanding body of research more efficiently, uncover deeper insights across disciplines, and accelerate the journey from published evidence to new ideas, breakthroughs and real-world impact.


Springer Nature is seeking a Senior Product Manager to help lead the business through this transition. You will own the product strategy for how researchers read, understand and derive insight from the world-leading research and academic content published by Springer Nature, shaping the next generation of personalised scholarly experiences and delivering measurable user and business outcomes.

This is an Individual Contributor role, with opportunities to grow into management or more senior individual contributor roles over time.



In this role you will be responsible for:


  • Owning the product strategy, outcomes and roadmap for how researchers read, understand and derive value from Springer Nature content, ensuring our platforms provide the best experience for engaging with books, journals and research insights.
  • Defining and delivering Springer Nature's AI-powered reading and understanding strategy, leading product discovery, experimentation and execution to create trusted, transparent and impactful research experiences
  • Shaping researcher workflows that move beyond content consumption to understanding, synthesis and knowledge creation, connecting Springer Nature content with broader context and supporting tasks such as literature review, evidence discovery and insight generation
  • Driving engagement, retention and commercial outcomes, owning success metrics and demonstrating measurable value across publishing and commercial models
  • Identifying and developing foundational platform capabilities that enable valuable user experiences, working with technology functions and other product teams to maximise return on investment
  • Leading prioritisation and delivery in partnership with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, working closely with engineering, design, research, analytics, commercial and product leaders to execute against strategic objectives and maximise impact

In this role you will work closely with

  • Head of Product, on the overall strategy for the discovery of research, researchers and research insights from Springer Nature’s Researcher Platform
  • Product Managers leading teams focussed on off-platform content discovery and on-platform content discovery tools (such as search)
  • Product Managers and business leaders in the evolution of our business models, and the way we communicate value to our customers
  • Product Managers responsible for Springer Nature’s foundational technology and data products, which drive our user-facing products and platforms
  • Product Managers responsible for Springer Nature’s Solutions products, where you will identify and execute on opportunities to drive revenue in partnership with them
  • User Experience Researchers and Product Data Analysts, providing insights to guide delivery roadmaps
  • Editorial experts and Content Innovation teams thinking about the future of scholarly communication
  • Cross-functional delivery teams in the creation and execution of deliverable roadmaps

Experience & Track Record

  • Proven Product Leader with a strong history of turning business objectives and user insights into clear, actionable product roadmaps
  • Demonstrable success managing customer‑focused digital products
  • Experience delivering product outcomes across commercial, behavioural, qualitative and quantitative measures
  • Skilled in agile delivery environments, with the ability to influence engineering teams and support the development of technical capability
  • Experienced in managing products across the full lifecycle, from inception through optimisation to retirement

Skills & Competencies

  • Deeply user‑centred, with a strong ability to understand customer needs and translate them into valuable product outcomes.
  • Highly collaborative, with a strong track record of working effectively with cross‑functional delivery teams and a wide range of stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, able to tailor messaging for senior leaders, delivery teams and external partners
  • Data‑driven and confident in using quantitative and qualitative evidence to inform decisions and articulate rationale
  • Effective at navigating ambiguity and complexity, maintaining clarity of direction and supporting team alignment
  • Strong stakeholder management, negotiation and facilitation skills to enable timely and effective decision‑making
  • Possess a strategic mindset, with an understanding of Product Design, Product Strategy and Development, Engineering and Systems Design

Desirable Experience

  • Experience working with content to drive deep user engagement, tied to business strategy and objectives
  • Experience working in research communication or media/publishing

 

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable professional experience.
