Abtrace is solving one of the most complex, impactful problems in healthcare for a generation. The company is at an inflection point.

Our belief is Product Design is going to be foundational for our next steps. We are looking for someone who can set a new standard, create clarity from complexity and raise the bar for the company and industry.
Abtrace

The NHS is under immense pressure. Primary care teams deliver more care for a larger, longer-living population with limited time and workforce capacity.

Improving health outcomes at scale requires healthcare to be more proactive, preventative, and operationally efficient. We must automate wherever possible, and thoughtfully digitise the rest.

Abtrace supports over 500 primary care practices across the UK, serving 6 million people. We automate the delivery of measurements, vaccinations, blood tests, reviews, and other routine care. We improve healthcare outcomes, reduce operational burden, and create better experiences for both staff and patients.

Healthcare professionals deserve software that is reliable, safe, modern, thoughtful, and well designed. Clarity, craft, and polish matter because they reduce friction and help earn trust in high-stakes work.

The role

Abtrace combines strong product, engineering, and design teams with experienced NHS clinicians. Design is a core product capability at Abtrace.

Your aim is to make the product a reliable and effective partner in delivering care. You will own the quality and direction of design within your product area, working closely with a Product Manager and Engineering Lead.

In practice, you will:

  • Lead design, shaping problems and creating clarity.
  • Stay close to reality by observing clinicians and working closely with onboarding and support teams.
  • Push beyond obvious solutions while respecting constraints.
  • Raise the quality and coherence of the product through strong craft and polish.
  • Help establish the systems and ways of working that allow design quality to scale.

This is an opportunity to help shape how millions of people experience healthcare. As the design function grows, there is clear scope to shape systems, practices, hiring, and broader design leadership.

Who you are

You:

  • Have led design within a cross-functional product squad and owned outcomes, not just outputs.
  • Can explore widely and articulate trade-offs clearly and decisively.
  • Have helped improve design quality, systems, or ways of working beyond your immediate area.
  • Can make good decisions with incomplete information and evolving constraints.
  • Are energised by helping a growing company mature its design practice.

Experience in healthcare or B2B SaaS is a bonus.

Benefits
    • Motivated, highly functioning, multi-disciplinary team
    • High trust, ownership, and the opportunity to help shape a growing product organisation.
    • Competitive salary, depending on experience
    • Private Pension
    • Generous maternity/paternity leave
    • Office in Paddington with hybrid-working model
