Meet the team behind this journey

As a Senior Product Designer at DeepL, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the translation experience at the heart of DeepL Translate, the AI-first translation platform millions of people reach for every day to localize their content. You'll join a cross-functional team that is central to delivering a fast, trustworthy, and scalable product, collaborating closely with product managers and engineering leaders to define and drive the product vision.

Beyond your immediate team, you will actively contribute to DeepL's broader design community—helping evolve our craft, influence best practices, and raise the bar for design across the company.

This is a high-impact role for a designer who is comfortable navigating complexity, cares deeply about user experience, and thrives in collaborative, strategic environments.

Your responsibilities

You will be responsible for solving a critical problem: making translation feel effortless and trustworthy for anyone who needs to communicate across languages — whether they're translating a sentence, a document, or their daily work. We expect you to:

  • Become an expert on who our users are and what each user group needs, from casual translators to professionals who rely on DeepL every day

  • Conduct generative and evaluative user research to define problems and validate solutions

  • Gather and evaluate requirements with cross-functional team members

  • Communicate design concepts early and often, backed by qualitative insights and quantitative data

  • Deliver vibe coded prototypes, final design specifications in Figma and make small code changes in production

  • Share the responsibility to maintain and expand the design system

Qualities we look for
  • You have 4+ years of experience in product teams providing design solutions for web applications

  • You have a strong understanding of user-centered design processes

  • You have experience designing for B2B audiences but have a great eye for design. Experience in B2C design is a bonus point

  • You can drive design throughout the whole lifecycle of an idea — discovering problems, defining success, evaluating solutions, and measuring impact

  • You understand the power of storytelling and are comfortable in driving stakeholders buy-in

  • You can consistently use qualitative and quantitative insights to guide your design process

  • You are confident owning and co-owning design artefacts in Figma

  • You are as confident in using AI to support your work, especially to create design assets and prototypes, we mostly use Claude Code

  • You have experience working on a product at scale with a global presence

  • You have strong communication and presentation skills

  • You are fluent in English. Any other languages, e.g. German, are an advantage
