Senior Producer

At Global, we think big, work hard, and never stand still. We’re the proud home of the best media and entertainment brands on the planet, driven by our talented and passionate people. Our mission? To make everyone’s day brighter - our Globallers, our audiences, our partners, and our communities. Whether we’re in the studio, building world-class technology, or securing record Outdoor advertising partnerships, we make sure we’re doing it as a team.

Your Role: Senior Producer

We are looking for a Senior Producer for Global's flagship sports podcast, presented by Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman.

You will be an outstanding journalist with a proven track record of producing a high profile national daily sports programme, fixing high-profile interviews, arranging access to locations, events and setting up special programmes.

At Global, we think big, work hard, and never stand still. We're the proud home of the best media and entertainment, driven by our talented and passionate people. Our mission is to make everyone's day brighter - our Globallers, our audiences, our partners, and our communities. Whether we're in the studio, building world-class technology, or securing record Outdoor advertising partnerships, we make sure we're doing it as a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Guest Booking & Outside Broadcasts (20%): You will be responsible for fixing contributors and high-profile interviewees, and setting up outside broadcasts.
  • Editorial Ideas & Story Development (20%): You will be encouraged to bring innovative and ambitious ideas for stories, guests, features and episodes, that set this podcast apart from the crowd.
  • On-the-Road Production Support (10%): We will be taking the podcast on the road for big events or when stories break, so last-minute travel may be required.
  • Reactive Content Delivery (15%): This is a reactive podcast so you will need to be able to spring into action at very short notice and think on your feet to generate content quickly.
  • Short-Form & Social Content Creation (10%): To generate additional short form or social media content that will drive audience to the podcast.
  • Cross-Team Production Coordination (15%): Work with internal collaborators and the podcast project management team to ensure effective production, promotion and marketing of podcast content.
  • Audio Editing & Deadline Delivery (10%): Be experienced on Adobe Audition and comfortable editing audio on a tight deadline and under pressure.
  • Cross-Show Working: Up To Speed (10%): In addition to your core responsibilities on The Sports Agents, this role may also require you to work across Up To Speed, Global's dedicated Formula 1 podcast. We are looking for someone who can bring the same level of energy, creativity and editorial rigour to this show when required. When working across Up To Speed, you may be expected to:
    • Bring a strong knowledge and passion for Formula 1 and its wider culture
    • Support the creation of engaging content that drives audience discovery and loyalty for the show
    • Contribute to a smooth, efficient content workflow that supports both shows simultaneously

What You’ll Love About This Role

  • Think Big: The chance to make your mark on the podcasting landscape
  • Own It: You'll be a producer on a high profile, innovative and ambitious podcast presented by two world class journalists
  • Keep it Simple: You’ll cut through the noise in a fast-moving sports news environment, turning complex stories into clear, compelling content
  • Better Together: You'll be part of a dynamic team working in a busy news environment

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Established yourself as a key member of the team, regularly pitching ideas for stories, guests and treatments that sound great on air
  • Delivered news-making interviews
  • Ensured that we have the best on the ground access to people and places when we take the podcast on the road
  • Helped continue to grow a healthy audience and engage a community of listeners.
  • Been part of setting up and producing outside broadcasts at home or abroad

What You’ll Need

  • A couple of years' experience producing a daily sports programme with knowledge and an interest in UK and international sports news
  • A track record in planning or as a guest booker
  • In depth knowledge and understanding of sports news, but also broader cultural reference points, including Formula One
  • A high level of creativity and imagination in audio content creation, and proficiency with audio editing software Adobe Audition
  • Experience of producing outside broadcasts / in the field
  • Sound editorial judgment and knowledge of media law
  • An excellent contacts' book which leads to a diverse range of guest and story ideas.
  • Outstanding organisational skills and the ability to deliver high quality output to deadline
  • Experience of working with high profile talent
  • A great team player
  • Experience of working in a breaking news environment with fast turnarounds and tight deadlines
  • Flexibility to work across a range of stories with an up-to-date understanding of diversity and inclusivity
  • A knowledge of the current podcasting world including industry trends
  • An avid listener of podcasts across multiple categories and genres
