The opportunity
Unity is looking for an innovative and driven Senior Counsel, Privacy to join our privacy group within the legal team. You’ll partner with Unity’s security, and Create product teams to tackle complex privacy and compliance challenges.

In this role, you’ll provide critical legal support for privacy, online safety, and assisting with investigations into security incidents. You’ll play a key role in creating strategies that balance innovation with regulatory compliance, ensuring Unity continues to lead as a trusted and dynamic platform.

This role offers the opportunity to work cross-functionally with global teams, hone your expertise in privacy and online safety law, and contribute to cutting-edge products that empower millions of creators worldwide.

What you'll be doing

  • Partner with the Create product and engineering teams address privacy concerns throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Partner with our corporate services teams to address privacy concerns and implement craft scalable compliance processes for compliance.
  • Advise teams on the legal requirements of online safety laws including the Digital Services Act and the U.K. Online Safety Act.
  • Lead the legal response to security incidents, advising on obligations, and providing guidance on mitigation and resolution efforts.
  • Stay ahead of legal developments and industry trends in martech and digital technology to advise on best practices and emerging risks.

What we're looking for

  • A working understanding of worldwide privacy regulations like GDPR, CCPA, and COPPA.
  • You are flexible, well organized, and have the ability and desire to work independently.
  • Excellent judgment in balancing legal risks with business strategy and a proven ability to learn new areas of law and function independently in a demanding fast-paced environment.
  • 3+ years experience in a law firm, government agencies, and/or in-house legal department working on tech transactions, preferably with cloud-based technology companies (either in-house or as outside counsel). A member in good standing with the bar in the jurisdiction in which you will practice

You might also have

  • A working understanding of online safety regulations like DSA, and the U.K. Online Safety Act.
  • You love learning and helping others learn - you want to create passionate legal ambassadors throughout the company.
  • A self-starter, strong attention to detail, solution-orientation, and an empathetic approach to communication.
  • Prior in-house experience working with advertising, enterprise software, Internet or high-tech companies.
