🖥 Hybrid working as standard: 2 days a week in the office, the other 3 days remote (or office if you prefer)
Goodlord is scaling, and we’re looking for a Senior Platform Engineer to own and evolve the Azure-native core of our dual-cloud platform (Azure & AWS).
This isn't a "stay in your lane" type of role. You’ll be at the intersection of infrastructure, security, and developer experience - ensuring the APIs and serverless systems our customers rely on are rock-solid, while simultaneously driving our containerisation roadmap as we move towards a more Kubernetes-native future.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Owning and operating our Azure workloads (Function Apps, Cosmos DB, Event Grid), ensuring they are reliable, scalable, and secure in production.

  • Designing and implementing IaC using Terraform to maintain consistent, repeatable environments across dev, staging, and production.

  • Driving our containerisation roadmap, building and running Kubernetes workloads in managed cloud environments (AKS/EKS).

  • Levelling up our logging and metrics using Datadog and Azure Monitor, and supporting our ISO 27001 compliance by hardening cloud security across identity and networking.

  • Experimenting with AI-driven tooling (like Claude Code) to supercharge platform operations and developer productivity.

  • Acting as a technical guide and mentor for other engineers, helping them navigate and get the best out of the platform you’re building.

What You’ll Bring

  • Hands-on production experience with Azure, including services such as API Management, Function Apps, Cosmos DB, or Event Grid

  • Proven use of Infrastructure-as-Code tools (e.g. Terraform) in real production environments

  • Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in managed cloud platforms

  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and monitoring best practices

  • Ability to script, support CI/CD pipelines, and mentor engineers where needed

  • Coaching and mentoring members of the team.

  • If you’ve come from a Software Engineering background, that’s a big plus for us

Why Goodlord?

Two in five people in the UK rent their homes. Our mission? To be the gold standard platform for renting

We started Goodlord because we wanted to make renting simple and transparent for everyone involved: the agent, the landlord, and the tenant. We knew Generation Rent would lead to more tenants, with higher digital expectations and we were confident we could provide a solution

Like all scale-ups it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster journey, but we’re now stronger than ever, with around 3,000 letting agents using the platform, exciting and varied products and 350+ Goodlordians across the group supporting the mission!

No two days are the same here. We move fast, we change priorities when it makes sense for the customer, and we give our engineers genuine autonomy. You won't just maintain a platform; you’ll evolve it.
What does success in 6 months looks like?

  • You’re owning a significant area of the Azure platform

  • You've made a meaningful contribution to our containerisation roadmap

  • You've become a go-to technical voice for engineers across the business.

What's in it for you:
  • Grow with Goodlord: your development is important to us, that’s why we are Great Place to Work - certified. Have a goal in mind? Share it with us so we can use some of our annual development fund to support it. We guarantee you’ll learn loads and develop both personally and professionally!

  • Your well-being matters: bi-weekly coaching with Sanctus to provide Goodlordians with a safe place to talk and support your mental health

  • 25 days holiday (plus UK Bank holidays) plus 1 day per full holiday year up to 32 days: We believe regular breaks are essential for well-being and we encourage (some may say expect!) all Goodlordians to take full advantage of their annual leave entitlement.

  • Supporting your family: we offer Goodlordians of all genders a generous 3 months of fully-paid time off to look after their new arrivals

  • Our team: we’re an energetic, sociable, and talented bunch who are super passionate about what we do and determined to make a difference. We’re all in it together, we learn from each other, we’re genuine and we don’t have time for politics
